CityNews website just posted a quick story on today's announcement. Points stated, and my reaction:

The province will not commit to an opening date for the new subway line currently under construction in Toronto.
But Metrolinx CEO Michael Lindsay says they plan to open the Ontario Line by the early 2030s, potentially later than the 2031 target.

Here we go again. The target date was 2030, then 2031, now it's rescinded. Also, Scarborough subway extension's target was 2030, now rescinded. BTW, "potentially" means definitely, right?
A couple of times I have said I would not be surprised if OL opens as late as 2040. That was not intended as an insult, it's just a more realistic estimate, considering the size of the project, and how many things could go wrong.
Last time I said that, someone objected vehemently and demanded that I provided sources for my opinion. Putting aside that opinions don't work that way, there is no such thing as a TTC target date that does not move. So that's my justification.
(I'll take that back, the Scarborough busway plans changed recently, moving the date earlier!)

Lindsay says the testing phase of new transit lines can affect opening dates.
If the opening date had no time allocated for testing, then yeah. Did it not, and if so, why not?

He also says the Don Valley Parkway may be shut down in order to build bridges for the new subway.
Well I should hope so! I don't think we were expecting to drive under it while a they're lifting a whole bridge onto the supports! And again, "may" means will. Why do they use words they don't mean!

I notice the big bus lot with extra platforms to the south (nearer to the viewer) and with places for buses to turn around, has been reduced, and what looks like parkland restored between the bus corridor and Eglinton. Is that really the plan? I recall they said the infamous standing stone would not be coming back because there would be no room for it, so I presumed there would be no big open space like the one shown here.

Also, the HH Angus building is almost right up against the sidewalk along Eglinton. The area for that little forest they're showing, just isn't there. I think there is some fantasy in these pictures.

Someone was clearly asked to add catenary in the last minute before release:

One beam phasing right through the train while another appears to be tucked underneath the roof of the mosque in the background. Weird Escher vibes…

Huh? How is he running them into the ground? Didn't he earmark $70B they're responsible for? I wish I worked somewhere with $70B flowing through it. These are not cash starved places.

Getting a cash injection of $70B (and the criminally high fares they charge) doesn't seem to be helping with their complete inability to deliver basic service. See also:

GO was a LOT better pre-pandemic. Now, with more people living in the GTA, they run less service and that service can't be counted on.

I indicated some time ago that the O/L was tracking well behind (measured in years); it is not tracking 2040 behind, though.

T3G said as much already. But GO peaked in 2018. Now we no longer have 15 minute train service off peak, have daily bus trip cancellations, have broken washrooms, have outsourced customer service that is almost useless, and the handling of service this winter seems particularly poor.

I notice the Thorncliffe Park street renderings only have a cycle track along the north side of Overlea blvd. The Millwood/Overlea intersection was designed to have a cycle track on both sides of Overlea (pic below), and was already started on. I wonder if this is an intentional change.
