Very impressive and expensive looking machinery/devices. Are those tunnel 'borers' from Europe or elsewhere? I wonder how they are powered. Diesel?

Yes, its going predominantly through Georgian Bay Shale. In contrast the Pape TBMs will be above the bedrock and will go through a whole plethora of materials.

Primarily powered by electricity - high-voltage cables feed the machine the power from somewhere on the surface.
