Because there is no need, or will to do so. It would be expensive, and change very little.
No will? The majority of Canadians feel we should get rid of it:

"In a survey released Thursday by Abacus Data, 64 per cent of respondents said they'd vote to eliminate the monarchy in a hypothetical referendum. Only 36 per cent would keep it."

I'll also say that's before the vast majority of sentiment against Andrew came to a head.

I would hazard a guess that a significant portion of that 64% have little understanding of how our governance system works and think it would be as simple as telling the GG 'thanks for coming out'.

POTUS has now hit a record low approval rating in two different polls. 32% and 33% approval. This is lower then his absolute previous low of 34% right after January 6th at the end of his first term.

...that said, having a constitutional monarchy (which we are) that keeps the powers of the crown in check is better then one that is entirely autocratic. And there is nor real political will in our country to move from that, I gather. So I will live with that...even if it's not ideal. It's certainly better than what we got State side currently, that's for sure.
I don't think an absolute monarchy is one of the options. Constitutional monarchy is fine. The monarch is just a figurehead. Republics can get a lot messier with wannabe absolute rulers (refer to our southern neighbour).

Nothing like the price of gas to sink presidential approval ratings. With everything Donnie Tinyhands have done over the years, nothing ever mattered to his voters. Destroying democracy - fine. Forcing himself on underaged girls - fine. Orchestrating an insurrection - excellent!
But the price of gas goes up and their ownership of dumb gas-guzzling pickup trucks is threatened - that's when the pitchforks come out...

If he puts boots on the ground in Iran or if gas prices shoot over $5 a gallon I can see him hitting 15% approval.
Nah, I think his approval rating floor is around 30%. His MAGA cultists will die before they get disenfranchised from their cult leader.
For the voting block that was supposed to be anti-war, it took them less than a month to be whipped into a full-throated support of Iran invasion:
A recent CBS News poll found that 92 percent of MAGA Republicans expressed support for military action against Iran, compared with only 70 percent of non-MAGA Republicans.
source:

Money talks.. yes 92% of MAGA republicans support military action against Iran but when it costs them $5.00 a litre to fill up their vehicles and their groceries cost significantly more they will turn on him.

Charisma and blind faith only get you so far.

It's obvious he's bleeding support from his base now...

...but here's the thing though: Or at least in Trump's mind...since pushing the "Safer" America Act through Congress and birthright business over at the Sacred Cow of The United States, which would eliminate most who would vote against him and his ilk. Where he's literally stated his goal to make it so that "Democrats can't win"...so skies the limit. And he can continue to push awful things no matter how unpopular they are...

I hope he's proven to be effing wrong though.

Did they let them know what it would actually take to do so before they answered? Lots of people will support something when they have no idea about said thing.

Pope at Palm Sunday Mass: ‘Jesus does not listen to prayers of those who wage war’

From https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2026-03/pope-leo-xiv-celebrates-palm-sunday-mass-rome.html

Pope Leo XIV presides at Mass on Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion, and reflects on Jesus as the King of Peace who rejects war and refuses to listen to the prayers of those who wage war.

On Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion, Pope Leo XIV celebrated Mass for the faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square.

In his homily, the Pope reflected on Jesus’ revelation of Himself as the King of Peace, even as violence loomed around Him.

As Jesus walked the Way of the Cross, we walk with Him and contemplate His passion which He bore for the sake of humanity as a gift of love.

“He remains steadfast in meekness, while others are stirring up violence,” said the Pope. “He offers Himself to embrace humanity, even as others raise swords and clubs.”

Jesus, he added, came to bring life and light to the world, even as darkness and death was about to engulf Him.

Pope Leo pointed out that Jesus desired to bring the world to the Father’s arms and to tear down every barrier that keeps us from God and our neighbor.

Repeating “King of Peace” several times, the Pope highlighted Jesus’ actions in His Passion that bear witness to His desire to bring peace.

When one of His disciples struck the high priest’s servant and cut of his ear, Jesus commanded the disciple to put away his sword, recalling that those who live by the sword die by the sword.

As He was crucified and put to death, Jesus did not arm or defend Himself but allowed Himself to be led like a lamb to the slaughter.

“He revealed the gentle face of God, who always rejects violence,” he said. “Rather than saving Himself, He allowed Himself to be nailed to the cross, embracing every cross borne in every time and place throughout human history.”

"...isn't that doomersim, Uta?"

...er, not really. As I said, in his mind. I don't think it's going to work out the way he's hoping it too. Kinda like what's happening with Iran now.

Does implying that everyone who answered is uneducated negate their will?
