    Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

Agreed 100% on this one. Those liberal "hug a thug", "catch & release" & "wide open border" policies had no business ever being implemented in any developed country.

Not a put-down term per se, rather that one is out of place in the other's environment.

Doesn't seem like it to me, they all look run down. Just makes the city look like a village instead. TLDR: "sprawl" = spacious/roomy/open, "sprawl-resistant" = cramped/claustrophobic.

I know, right? Can't believe my dislike of these (and these) vs. my preference for houses in suburbia & apartment buildings puts me "firmly in the minority". This is one of the things I can never understand.

Would love to read in more detail if it weren't for that stupid goddamn paywall 🙄 I do tend to get a bit nervous when riding GO/VIA at over 100 km/h that it could suddenly derail when crossing switches or even just slightly swaying, but always tried to brush it off as unfounded paranoia. Guess...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Is "being safe" more concrete of a term? i.e. one has the right to be safe, whether or not they "feel" safe is a different question? Setting aside that if someone is a direct threat to the safety of others, they might forfeit their own right to safety, which is another discussion.

Why would anyone say this? It is a right, not a privilege.

This is what I mean: https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/livestory/iran-israel-us-war-day-11-9.7119190 Sucks this is a problem for us too, even though Canada won't participate. Wonder how true this is now:

Also when the station name is repeated twice in a row with almost no pause (at least when I rode it a while ago, not sure if that's changed) "Next stop: Sloane Sloane station". Sound a bit... awkward.

Well, it'll still be necessary to have pairs on line 2 for the foreseeable future (until Kipling yard), hence the new fleet being redesigned to allow it. I wonder if the new cars will also be swapped around, or if they'll be uncoupled only for maintenance without being swapped around otherwise.

Yes, it creates annoying Restricted Speed Zones (RSZs) in bike lanes, to the point cyclists like me have to make a detour in the car lane, which is actually quite nice, solid 40 km/h & keeping up with traffic.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

MTA's current trains are all in permanent 4/5/6-car sets, and they only ever couple 2 sets together, so there isn't that much flexibility to spare, not nearly as much as with married pairs (train length can basically only be either 1 set or 2 sets, and only a few lines, like G, run 1-set...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

(transferring this discussion over to the more appropriate thread) Quite unlike the H6s... The TTC did feel the need to push quite hard (hah!) over the past few years before someone finally heard them. So what was the reason for their 2011/2012 retirement? I don't recall them having an...
