A sign has gone up on Warden south of 7 regarding the Aryeh lot at 8293 / 8303 Warden. Anyone know the current status or plans of this development?

I suppose at least they're being up-front about it. I'm more bothered by interior new build square footage estimates. They're supposed to be based on livable space, and in my experience they typically wouldn't include square footage from an unfinished basement (which is good). But it seems to me...

With the York condos, the digging and foundation work started once the exterior build was completed on the Signature. They were pouring the concrete of the York parking levels in the Summer 2017. The digging out for the signature buildings was in Summer 2014. If they're sticking to this...

And I believe Times Group has already received approval for the next three buildings underway at the SE corner of Verclaire Gate and 7 -- which will be 16, 38, and 42 storeys.

The funny thing is ... they're not actually any more out of the way than the Rouge or Verdale buildings. It just seems that way because the South-only access via Birchmount is annoying.

    Yep, that's the one.

I'm surprised nobody has asked this before -- it's a problem. There are far fewer people turning at the no-turn sign these days, but a few years back I had to slam on the brakes almost daily because of the number of drivers ignoring the signage to turn into the Nexus driveway from the northbound...

Well, he didn't campaign on an anti-education platform ... which is no doubt why they waited until the day after the municipal elections to do this, in order to avoid blowback against the people they backed for city council.

The key word was *settlement*. The government has already made a statement in which they acknowledge that "reasonable" wind-down costs will need to be paid. Money that was to come from the Ontario funds (in full or in part) has already been spent on environmental studies, architectural planning...

I imagine that once the lawsuits start there will be a settlement of some kind whereby the government agrees to kick in $20-30 million, and the schools will seek to fill the funding gap from other sources.

The population of Markham has grown ~50% in 15 years. (223K in Jan 2002, 353K in 2018) The city's planning documents from ~15 years ago projected a 2030 population of around 342K. We're 13 years ahead of that forecast. Height restrictions are being loosened on new buildings in Markham Centre...

Traffic in this area will be bonkers in 10 years, so people will be forced to visit places within walking distance ;)

I believe the Warden/7 plaza is close to (if not past) its planned life expectancy. I figure at some point a condo development will be proposed for that corner. But who knows when that'll happen.

Can't pay the rent, staff, and operational costs when you don't have any customers. That's the story of Cherry Berry, Deco (the hoverboard place), and the bubble tea spot on birchmount that just shut down. Raw More did a bit better and I wish they'd been able to pull through, but they were only...

The work permit for the space next to Poke Guys / Raw More was issued for "retail" modifications. One of the Raw More guys was told that an upscale bakery would be opening next door. That fits the description of Sorelle & Co, mentioned in this post. But that work appears to have stalled out.
