    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

Exactly. And also I kind a wish that some of these small buildings could stay as office buildings. I know it’s more difficult to convert big office buildings (WCP for example) to residential but, but I’d prefer to see that rather than three or four small boutique buildings.

I agree, it certainly would look better with a some trees around it.

    Calgary Flames Official Thread

At the time I thought it was a good deal, but it looks looking like a shitty deal now.

    I really like this.

The 2-3 block stretch of Centre in that area has great potential. It would be nice if they could convert that white office building in the background to residential, get rid of the parking lot and put in retail that goes up to the street level.

I’m anxious to see what the upper portion exterior material looks like. The new reality for Development projects these days is Tyvek will be the exterior material for quite some time while we wait for rest of the material. Lol

I like skyscrapers to, but I like them more when they weren’t so many on the planet. There have been so many supertalls built in the last 20 years I don’t even keep track of them anymore. They aren’t near as majestic as they used to be. It feels like it’s harder to build a nice mixed used...

    General Construction Updates

That’s a valid point. The bridge itself is fairly simple, but with the right colouring it can be a simple, elegant bridge. Welcome to the forum!

By ‘false starts’ you mean the bold face lies by the realtor that it has started? Lol

    Calgary | Stephen Avenue Quarter | 241m | 66s | Triovest | Gibbs Gage

The only thing that was holding my interest for this tower was that it was a new tallest. Now that it’s not going to be, I have no interest in seeing it built. The extra residential density would be nice, but there are better ways to accomplish the same thing. The last thing our downtown needs...

How long is the Neo lease at the Bay? Even if this goes ahead it probably won’t be ready for tenants until five years from now.

    Weather and Gardening Discussion

Only my two cents, but thumbs up usually means you’re good to go, something like that, and govertical is a chill poster. It’s just a misunderstanding folks. How about they gorgeous weather outside! 😎

Calgary’s lack of innovative and diverse options led me to search elsewhere for the city life I wanted

That’s a good way to describe it. The people aren’t overtly rude or anything just not very friendly. Even being Chinese Canadian I don’t feel like I fit in with the Asian community there. I’m not rich enough for the Asian community, and I’m not a hippie enough for the white community lol 😂

Calgary’s lack of innovative and diverse options led me to search elsewhere for the city life I wanted

I went to school I Vancouver and quite liked the city. As a person of Asian background, I was fitting in easily and in general it was a nice place to live. I had considered moving there different times, but have no interest anymore. It has changed over the years and not for the better, but for...
