Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Competitive a low bar in my opinion! We dont build HSR to be simply competitive.

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Common! Everything I say you try to twist. I specifically said I understand the rationale why Ottawa was included. But I can be disappointed in the slow travel time between Montreal and Toronto for HSR considering it’s Canada’s two biggest cities. Things are not always black and white. I simply...

Ottawa to Toronto will be 2h09 according to Alto. So proportionally the same with Montreal would be ideal. To clarify I am not saying it should be 2h09 between Montreal and Toronto since Montreal a bit further but should have been proportionally the same.

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Totally agree. This is why I mentioned HSR will be more frequent and reliable. But considering the trains will go up to 300km an hour on dedicated lanes and considering the trip duration of the other segments, I do feel the travel time between Montreal and Toronto is disappointing for HSR. But...

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

I never said every train has to stop at every station. I even mentioned the stopping patterns multiple times.

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Of course it will be competitive. I also mentioned that but it’s a fair criticism it should have been faster than the plane. When you look at the travel time in the other segments it’s awesome but Toronto to Montreal not as much when it’s the segment that can benefits the most being faster.

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Personally, I talked about it because currently 7 stations are planned for 1000 KM of track and two stops will be approx only 20-30KM apart depending where the stop will be in Laval. This is odd and Laval already well connected to Montréal. Furthermore initial travel times released by Alto...

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Your acting in bad faith. I mentioned Laval have EXO, the REM and the three Metro stations in Laval making Laval pretty covered overall with all theses pieces together. Furthermore, Montmorency to Bonaventure would be under 30 minutes pretty good for almost 20 KM. My initial reaction was...

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

So why it’s not foolish to ignore Toronto suburbs also en route and bigger than Laval something I have pointed out many time (that you keep ignoring). Scarborough and Durham region both bigger than Laval and not on the initial map when Laval was included even going back to February. Something...

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Because at this point in time it’s not on the map. Of course things can change but Laval was always part of the plan and for Toronto currently it isn’t. It’s puzzling Laval a priority being the only suburb included in the project so far. It’s possible it’s because they have not made the...

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Since February 2025 people know Laval would be included prior to the confirmation of the first segment in December 2025. We have the overall map already and don’t mention two stops in Toronto like it does with Montreal.
  12. canucks2030

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Ignorance on all sides. You said Québec lack meaningful regional rail to justify a stop in Laval but Laval has three subway stations, EXO and now the REM. You also said Laval just happens to be on the way to Montreal. Toronto has suburbs too alongs the way to downtown Toronto. So why Laval so...
  13. canucks2030

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Laval has the REM, EXO and the metro so what is the difference? My point simply if Montreal has two stops why not Toronto. If the reason it’s because the train will need to reach Laval, it’s the same for Toronto, the train will not appear by magic at union station without reaching a suburb area...
  14. canucks2030

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

To reach downtown Toronto, the train will need to pass either North York, Scarborough or Durham the same way it will with Laval. Why not a stop there being all bigger than Laval?
  15. canucks2030

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

If you read my message you will notice I mentioned I understand why Ottawa was added. However, having three stops between Toronto and Montreal will sadly make the trip longer unless some trains would be direct. As long they do it would fix my criticism. But still doesn’t explain why more stops...
