Turns out it was 2016 that "mind the gap" showed up in Central and Churchill. ETS first used "mind the gap" in the summer of 2013 when they were rebuilding the Stadium platform and created wooden extensions at each end to allow half of the platform to be rebuilt The chandeliers in Corona...

I should have also asked what time of day as well, and which track you used at 102 St. Regardless, at most stops with traffic lights immediately ahead of the train, the operator needs to send a request for a green light. It is certainly not unheard of for trains to wait at Churchill for a...

Were there any trains nearby? Or crews working at then crossovers?

ETS Bus and General Transit Improvements

Why? They certainly did their due diligence. They tested 5 buses, 3 during winter from 2 vendors. They had a feasibility study done that provide numbers that were in favour of electric buses, and then they used a competitive procurement process and they selected the best response. Short of a...

ETS Bus and General Transit Improvements

It's not great, but they have about 25 operable buses with 15-20 being out during peak periods. Not that that is acceptable, but it's also not as bad as some people seem to think.

The stations and crossover cavities were all built as cut and cover. Now I'm thinking about it, I actually wonder if they had to modify Central south at some point, as originally both tracks ran straight into the crossover cavities and were used a tail tracks. The crossovers came later.

There were "mind the gap" signs on the walls as well if I recall. They've been around since the early-mid 2010's, ever since 5 car trains saw use which was fairly frequent at the time. Both Central and Churchill have this problem to a degree. I'm not sure if it was originally a design issue...

It's north of $500 million. The City of Edmonton hasn't mentioned costs in their press releases, fortunately Rotem has. It was about $238m for 46 VLW cars and $300.7 million for these 32 high floor cars. Unfortunately, that $300.7 million is on par with recent figures from Salt Lake and...

I believe it is 1+2, facing towards the middle of the car in each end of the car, inward facing seats in the middle.

My thinking is money. Although the the NLRT extension to Blatchford was said to need 6 cars, if they keep 12 minute peak headways, they can easily open that extension without any more trains. Right now they have 13 minutes of layover time, Blatchford Gate is maybe 2-3 minutes. In fact, I...

Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

Service has been 5 minutes peak frequencies for over 2 years now so that hasn't changed. Weekday peak requirement is 13 trains. Base service level would be 13 single trains. The City choose to fund a higher service level that saw a mix of double and single car trains, during peaks roughly...
