    General Construction Updates

Maybe we can get a better development on the site

Probably the heating furnaces that keep the workers warm caught a fuel source, like an oil-covered tarp or wood. Most likely will shut down for a few days for a safety review and restart in the new year

Maybe O'Connor's should relocate to DT Hudson's if they want an iconic location. I have no problem with a unique retailer like O'Connor's being situated in the Downtown/Beltline area, but that specific plot of land is highly underutilized, given the location and could have much more to offer...

    Rumours & Speculation

I'm curious as to how the forum found out about the Allies and Morrioson rumour? I couldn't find anything on the internet. Is this just word of mouth?

Idk why Alberta keeps getting these outdated 2000s-looking towers. You rarely see crap like this proposed in Van or Toronto.

^ wow please, anything to drown out that horrid building, "The Hub."

The cladding is so bad imo. Giving Soviet.

Hopefully, but still a couple more retail fronts would've been ideal

Man, it was just missing some retail along 2nd Street. Even two shops would've gone a long way; instead, they went for some sterile landscaping with planters. Otherwise, nice building.

I can see 1st SW becoming more prominent, similar to 10th Ave. The streetscape already has a head start on developing into a consistently vibrant corridor — it just needs more residential and mixed-use units in the vicinity, along with continued development expanding south toward 17th Ave.

I hope they still use brick on their podium

No retail on the footsteps of an LRT? Another failed TOD. Not to mention how underwhelming the design is. Would've been better suited for a phased double 10-ish-storey development

Perfect density boost. Nimbyist anti-height arguments are such a headache. Looking at inner city Vancouver—areas like South Granville are coming alive with 30+ storey towers. Calgary can either resist or start building now, because high density in the inner city is inevitable.

I believe the first phase is two towers
