The tiny punched windows on new EIFS-clad buildings look awful to me. I've heard this is driven by energy code requirements. Anyone know if that's actually the main reason?

    General Infill Discussion

Edmonton’s mayor says the city needs to do more to clamp down on infill builders who are consistently breaking the rules. “If they're not following the rules, we need to throw everything at them to ensure that they are, because that's what Edmontonians expect of us,” Andrew Knack told...

The Edmonton Method - Snow Removal

I'd bet that Ops intentionally did a bad job of it, poutingly, because they didn't get what they want on 132 Avenue.

    The Quarters

Imagine if they had established a MDC like Calgary did to maximize the potential of the CRL. Look at East Village vs Quarters.

    Lilac Park | 20.2m | 6s | Westrich Pacific | J+S Architect

People love to rag on architectural controls in the suburbs, but there's long-term value to both community and individual property values in setting minimum quality standards. Not that every suburb gets it right. Setting a minimum number of materials doesn't translate to quality outcomes and...

    Lilac Park | 20.2m | 6s | Westrich Pacific | J+S Architect

Yes - enough with the ground-floor retail! People living in homes will add as much or more vibrancy to the street than a bunch of CRUs that sit empty for years because of oversupply. They are a great option for accessible units as well.

    Miscellaneous

You would think they'd be able to figure out how to do wrap-arounds shown in the render given it's being built by Pagnotta and their specialty in concrete. More crap from Gardener - unsurprising.

    LRT Safety

Don't you get it? We don't deserve a transit system until we have solved all the systemic injustices that result in homelessness.

    General Infill Discussion

Don't denigrate trailer parks. Many are nicer than the infill that is going up. And they're affordable housing.

    Street-cleaning - Where's the Logic???

I would love to see the statistics on how many property owners participated in clearing the grit as requested.
