    Russian-Ukrainian War (2022- )

Carney is awesome. This is finally the kind of support we should have always been giving Ukraine. https://www.canada.ca/en/department-national-defence/news/2026/02/government-of-canada-reaffirms-unwavering-support-for-ukraine-four-years-into-russias-full-scale-invasion.html

What I mean is that these pinprick strikes don't move the Russians. Better to stockpile a bit and unleash a real terror wave

    Russian-Ukrainian War (2022- )

I worry when Ukraine does stuff like this. Better to delay a month and get a much larger strike. Firing 3 is not going to scare Russia. Fire 10 and the Russians have to rethink some air defence positions.

    Russian-Ukrainian War (2022- )

This is an absolutely fantastic piece on the intelligence work by MI6 and the CIA in the lead up to the invasion: https://www.theguardian.com/world/ng-interactive/2026/feb/20/a-war-foretold-cia-mi6-putin-ukraine-plans-russia

Forget the drone. The UGVs are the real stars. Among many reasons why the CAF thinks the Gripen push is dumb is because it takes away resources that we need to accelerate automation which is our 2030s priority.

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

I want the Northern Route. To avoid NIMBYs, have a shorter route and to permanently rule out diversions to places like Kingston. And we will get people in Kingston hating the NIMBYs around them for a long time. Win-Win.

    Russian-Ukrainian War (2022- )

Strongly recommend Perun's video on this. And it mentions a number of developments that I don't think are much discussed in open source. Everybody talks about Starlink. Not much talk about Starshield. This is the land version of "F-22s got beaten by ... ". It's a gimped exercise where...

    Russian-Ukrainian War (2022- )

As I said, I don't buy the threat as substantial. But I can appreciate that you might have a different interpretation.

The coming $26 billion windfall for the Canadian Armed Forces. What to buy?

I honestly believe that Canadians are mostly talk and care about jobs than anything else.

The coming $26 billion windfall for the Canadian Armed Forces. What to buy?

The government cares about jobs and spending in the economy. Not about where profits go.

The coming $26 billion windfall for the Canadian Armed Forces. What to buy?

Company ownership is not in the strategy. Workshare and IP ownership are. So LMC building the CMS330 and selling it from Canada will be seen as Canadian.

President Donald Trump's United States of America

Trump Administration has decided that having a well educated military is pointless apparently.

President Donald Trump's United States of America

Disavow means nothing. Congress would have to impeach him.

President Donald Trump's United States of America

The military is expressly forbidden by law from getting involved at home. And most military personnel would have ethical objections to doing so anyway. The military ousting an elected leader is something that would make anybody who grew up in a democratic society extremely uncomfortable. Even...

President Donald Trump's United States of America

Nah. I want the centrist parties favoured. Coddling the extremists and enabling them is how we got here in so much of the world. Anybody who wants to upend society should face substantial obstacles and a high bar to do so.
