Ironically, a major driver of price inflation since 2022 has been the tight labour market and the resulting above inflation wage increases that have created excess demand.

Homelessness on GTA Transit (catch all)

    1) Sure, imprisoning someone is cruel. So is sleeping on the streets of a Canadian city on a January night. Homelessness is much more cruel than even being institutionalized. 2) You're assuming that a) that person would be safe in a shelter bed. and b) that person wants a shelter bed. Both of...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I'm very much expecting Streetsville GO as well as Lisgar to be included in the TOC program with the absolutely gargantuan surface parking lots at stations. I have literally never once seen the Streetsville lot more than half-full, and this was when I was in the Cadet program, when the lot was...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Mississauga Road will be tricky and expensive, as it's a pretty busy North-South street and the track is on a curve as it intersects with the road. There will likely need to be property acquisition and track realignments. Thomas Street won't be cheap either but it's a pretty straight stretch...

I don't think they're needed either, but you just know staff will budget a couple million $ to get some contractor to remove them.

Just put a couple hundred bucks worth of paint on the jersey barriers and be done with it.

Toronto Toronto | GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I'm really curious about what any of this has to do with the Davenport Diamond Grade Separation......

One thing that I hope gets put to the front of the line for next round of transit expansion is 2WAD service on the Milton Line. Mississauga's ridings will be up for grabs and anyone promising Milton Line improvements (especially Bonnie) will wrap those seats up

Agree 100% I think what would make the most sense is to keep Verster on for the current round of LRT expansions (Finch, Crosstown, Hurontario) and then look for a new CEO that can take Metrolinx through GO Expansion, the Ontario Line, Crosstown West Extension, and Hamilton LRT

    Mississauga Toronto | Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

it's entirely possible that Metrolinx has information that we don't have and they're confident in the timelines that they're being given. Port Credit Station and the QEW were always going to be the most technically challenging and time-consuming sections of the project, once those are...

pretty massive blunder by Phil here I think, 2024 is quite comfortable, even accounting for significant delays and defects.

You know people in Streetsville living near Hurontario? That makes no sense, Streetsville and Hurontario are not at all close to one another. I'm assuming you mean people that work in Streetsville and live near Hurontario?

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

if highways were held to the same safety standard as this user wishes to hold mass rail transit projects to, there would be thousands of lives saved every year in this country.

I mean if you said the same thing about shipbuilding today it would literally be 100% true. we have nuclear reactors on ships now. Radar, sonar, and weather detection systems have made it 100% impossible for a sophisticated vessel to not be aware of any storm systems or large objects in their...
