Is there a thread for the ArtsCommon expansion/reno? Some big funding news from the province today. Also this interesting tidbit in the article: "The Arts Commons CEO said shovels will be going in the ground this year and a design will be revealed in April, with a goal to complete construction...

Bit more insight into the Banff Train stuff... https://calgaryherald.com/feature/how-oil-tycoon-plans-transform-banff-iconic-mountain-town/wcm/411f7629-76a7-4420-808f-0181539b0474

Not to take this thread too much further off topic but the City of Calgary has a planned project to use an automated people mover (think Vancouver SkyTrain style) to connect the Blue Line's 88th Ave Station with the Airport Terminal and the Green Line's 96th Ave Station. Step 1 is extending the...

Hopefully not Blanco. It would be nice if 17th can preserve some variety in built form as Arlington slowly builds out their 6 story buildings everywhere along the avenue.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Eau Claire officially closing on May 31st. Of note is the fact that the site will be used for construction staging and laydown for the Green Line. Give Green Line has a 6 year construction timeline, I don't think we'll be seeing development moving forward here for ages.

    Calgary Transit

Today's provincial budget had $43 million in funding for a Blue Line extension to 88th Ave N. This sets the stage for the eventual airport terminal connection. Given how George Chahal represents the area, I'm sure federal funding will be added shortly. There was also $9 million for a passenger...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Fun fact (or at least so I've been told so it may just be rumour) but the trees along the northern edge of Olympic Plaza were planted specifically because they interfered with sight lines. Apparently the television broadcaster during the Olympics didn't like having the train in their medal...

Side note, but is that pub that took over the Rose and Crown space open yet?

The concrete in that corner that they are removing is an old emergency staircase. I'm not sure what the plans are for the upper floors but in order to achieve the street level interaction shown in the renderings they had to remove the entire stair case first. So there will still be the box shown...

    Infill Development Discussion

Not sure if this is the right spot to ask this question or not but we are house hunting and are considering a semi-detached infill because of pricing. My biggest concern is that the shared wall with the neighbouring unit will allow a lot of sound to transfer, especially if I set up a home...
