Are you feeling more optimistic about an opening time with all this recent activity or is it too little too late?

    TTC: Streetcar Network

A search for "left turn" yields 4 pages of comment on a 162 page thread, seems like a pretty popular sentiment. It's both - A streetcar should eliminate as many left turns as feasible AND have enough room to allow an electric motor. If we aren't going to bother with running vehicles at speed...

    Hamilton Toronto | Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

How does a pedestrian signal work in this context? It would be disabled when an approaching train is detected, but would otherwise trigger a flashing light to stop car traffic? Is this some common off-the-shelf product or is this some bespoke solution with expensive boondoggle potential? If a...

    Hamilton Toronto | Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

The commentary document is no longer available for some reason, but from the presentation, I'm seeing quite a few very tightly spaced pedestrian crossings already, so it seems odd to imagine adding many more. Found a working link...

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

I know you all feel the same way and I'm preaching to the choir, but it always amazes me that these self-driving pod evangelists don't realize how inefficient it will be having these empty vehicles driving around to pick up clients. It would be a dramatic step backwards in the use of our...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

My gut feeling is that Confederation is built for transit oriented development. It's 2km's of strip malls and car dealerships South of there, Eastgate Mall has a massive development planned, and Hamilton is creating some express buses along that corridor that extend deep into the escarpment...

    Hamilton: General Service Discussion

Other Hamilton news: https://thepublicrecord.ca/2025/09/bus-barn-ventilation-issue-due-to-indoor-natural-gas-refuelling-station/ Apparently the new massive bus facility is facing a new delay of a couple months to bring the natural gas refueling system up to HVAC code.

    Hamilton: General Service Discussion

https://news.ontario.ca/en/advisory/1006544/premier-ford-to-hold-a-press-conference “Premier Doug Ford will be joined by Prabmeet Sarkaria, Minister of Transportation, and Andrea Horwath, Mayor of Hamilton, to provide remarks and hold a media availability.” Any wagers on the topic? I’m...

    Hamilton: General Service Discussion

Here's Arcadis' final report for service roll-out for those that haven't read it: https://pub-hamilton.escribemeetings.com/filestream.ashx?DocumentId=465546 Very ambitious timeline that assumes a 2032 LRT completion. The tl;dr is a total revamp of the system from a hub (MacNab terminal) and...

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Not to further derail the thread, but I've been wondering lately if the oldies at ML were balking at the massive labour and station overhauls that would need to happen over a short time period. The only way to affordably get to the level of service DB wanted is to have less staff on the trains...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I checked out the redesign Hamilton did of the Westdale and Ainslie Wood neighborhoods that abuts McMaster University today and I’m really impressed, I hope it can serve as a model for the rest of the city. Here’s the Sterling Street entrance through what is effectively the Eastern “student...

    Mississauga Toronto | Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

The one big upside to the BRT scheme I've thought is that it plays nicely with the 5 municipal jurisdictions that runs through it. The service model isn't hammered out yet obviously, but you could theoretically run a GO bus along the whole thing alongside parallel city buses like the Mississauga...
