IMO, MLS is a no go right now, esp with the new sched change. Part of the reason soccer didn't do well here was because Clark Stadium was/is/may never be a good venue for pro sports. They really should try and bring a CPL team here though. But I really don't think we need a new stadium, but...

This is a dumb site, but I can see the dumb decision making around choosing it. Very on brand. Couldn't they use the old super lab site? Probably not the best comparison, but the new St. Paul's in Vancouver sits on a ~18 acre site, old super lab site is ~16 acres.

Not at all surprised at the occupancy rate. Visited a couple friends there about a month ago (forgot to take pics). Units are pretty typical for new rentals, small-ish open layouts but meets the needs. Amenity spaces are ridiculously well thought out and planned. Security is top notch as well.

100% agree. I do think a developer with deeper pockets could attempt to do this, but realistically, there are a lot of things that need to be in place for these ideas to work out and for it to be sustainable, not to mention a robust arts/theatre/music scene that can support two new venues.

Personally, I say keep the Princess facade and completely modernize the interior into a Theatre and Cinema space. Could be used year round as a cinema, theatre and live music venue. Build a small addition for storage and ops space. Can be used year round, Edmonton Film Fest, Jazz Fest, Fringe...

I think it's just an elevator down to the parkade (see pic from October 2024). The parkade extension has new ramps to move between levels on the far east side, as well as a "105 Avenue Exit" which is the exit using the dock exit/entrance. However, there are pedestrian markings in that area, so...
