I was a bit surprised/disappointed today to see the excavation only extends to cover the grounds of the old Mirador. I suppose the Jasper Avenue portion will follow b a few years?
I first noticed it about 20 years ago, and initially it was almost completely intact. But it’s sad because with each passing year it disintegrates a little further into obscurity, and now it’s almost unrecognizable.
If you choose to take the single track along the waters edge, you may notice the remnants of the old John Walter Ferry marooned in the bush about 100 meters west of the Walter dale bridge.
I think that when the temporary barrier between the square and the new building comes down it may feel quite a bit more spacious. There is a surprising amount of space in that gap when viewed from 104th Ave.
