GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Thanks for those schedules cbrown2009, much appreciated. When you consider Brampton has 800,000 and about another million to Kitchener, that is really lousy service. I know there are GO buses but they get stuck in the same traffic as everyone else. At a minimum, those frequencies should be...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Correct me if I'm wrong but when the elevated portions of the UPX went up, didn't they install the place for the catenary to be easily put up? If that is so then a BEMU would be very easy to start up as it could recharge during the elevated section and at Pearson. This would negate having to put...

Well thank God! The use of battery trains are going to save GO a fortune in electrification costs and years of construction time. It's good to now that ML finally decided to listen to me. How they also plan to implement the battery train recharging system is also superior. It is always better...

I know GO just improved service on the Kitchener so with that in mind......... If I was just an average person who wanted to go from Bramalea to Union and back but not in rush hour, how frequent is the service and what about Saturday/Sunday? Also what about service at 10PM or later?

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Again, I think QC should be a go as it also serves TR. My point is that SWO should also be considered as Phase 2.

Some good news and bad news on battery trains. The good news is that BHP in Australia has just received their first battery locomotive which will be used for iron ore transportation and is beginning testing phases in the harsh conditions of the interior of Australia. The bad news is that...

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

London is Canada's 4th busiest VIA station not Quebec. Also what do you have east of Quebec........nothing. Conversely, west of London you have Windsor which is VIA's 7th busiest station as well as Detroit across the river and connections to Chicago. I think the first section should definitely...

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Looks like SWO got shafted again. From a ridership and financial point of view, HSR should go west to London before it goes east to Quebec City.

    Montréal Transit Developments

Minny's commuter train system named NorthStar is being shut down this month due to very low ridership. It has never recovered from COVID and is only now carrying about 1,000 passengers a day. Due to only running in rush hours and the system only being 20 years old, they too are looking to off...

    Toronto Toronto | Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

I rode the UPX to Union in the summer when I was in Toronto. I was actually quite surprised at how loud and rough the ride was. Also, why is it so damn slow between the mainline and Pearson itself along the elevated sections? Did they screw up the elevated sections or is it the trains themselves?

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Unfortunately, CN/CP pull the strings in Ottawa and Ottawa has little interest or inclination to change the situation.. Our railway system is simply too vast to make any form of catenary cost effective. Batteries are also not option due to the distances and the downtime required to recharge the...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Scot Rail has just announced they are putting out bids for new catenary and battery trains and hopes to have them employed on the system by 2030. They will be used for both suburban and regional trains. They did not provide the number of trains they wanted to purchase. Obviously the battery...

    GO 2.0 Expansion Plan

I think Torontonian's priorities is that they finish GO 1.0 before they start the next phase.

    Toronto Without Wires

Melbourne has just received it's first Alstom G class trams double articulated, 25 meter trams. The order is for 100 such trams. What makes this unique is that it is the first battery/catenary trams the city has ever had. The battery power is relatively small but can run catenary-free for...

^^^ A one year delay? Torontonians would forfeit their first born to have any transit project only late by a year.
