Depends if they can get the developers of Sherway/Cloverdale Mall to stump up some cash. Combined with a very modest extension of the line to serve the (long proposed) Obico Western Subway Yard - I could see this happening, esp. if built as elevated. No need for super large bus terminal...

For all the good of REM East - it was designed by CDPQ, who have a vested interest in making money off it. Hopefully taking a step back will lead to a better project overall 🤞 (although, given the point about politics above ... 🙃)

As with the stations, until the Civil, Stations, Tunnel contracts are signed and sealed - any rendering/image of the Don Crossing you see is a placeholder. Design teams for the south contract include major companies such as Arup, AECOM and IBI. It remains to be seen how good a 'client' Metrolinx is!

This is excellent, excellent news. The electrification of GO was something I was very worried that a pro-car Conservative provincial government would dump - so I guess I take my doubt back! Kudos to Metrolinx for pushing the (very rosy!) business case hard enough and kudos to local governments...

Question I have - is there actually the demand for this? Developers own large chunks of land by Vaughan Metro Centre subway - and you're not seeing a forest of towers immediately being built... Some, sure - but not 20+ at once or something.

Perfect example of the TOC process would be the central London Crossrail stations - stations built to support the weight of development above, and station systems (ventilation, fire safety etc) are separate from any future building on top. As with the TOC process, placeholder designs for the OSD...

Also ancillary space is always in demand - cleaning, storage, station staff offices - as well as retail units. Could make the station feel less cramped, too

Scrap and scrap, most likely. Land then passed to Create TO etc for better use, with the (rumoured) use of the guideway as a linear park. If the TTC offered a set to Halton County Railway (or others), I'd expect they'd decline the offer, given the complicated, fiddly and expensive linear motor...

The Class 80x series bi-mode multiple unit trains in the UK can switch between overhead and their underfloor diesel engines while on the move, even at high speed. It's perfectly possible. Realistically, any GO bi-mode locomotive will do the switch at stations - easy while people are boarding the...
