Since everyone is just denying your claim without explaining why, I'll try. 19 Duncan had a significant commercial office component, and that's why the architecture is so much higher quality than this. Not only do commercial owners have a vested, long-term interest in the attractiveness of the...

Three new retail units will be a great enhancement to this stretch - let's remember that The Esplanade is a premier restaurant magnet of a strip, and the current Novotel is a boring, elongated hotel lobby/cafe. Additional pedestrian activation will be good for the 'hood. In the long term...

Here's hoping for better PATH integration between PwC tower, 25 York, and the York Concourse. Pretty wild that to stay indoors you need to walk all the way to the Arena when the PATH is literally above/below one another.

Thankfully, the leaf motif is built into the balcony, not the windows, so we're in no danger of residents obscuring it in their attempts to combat Condo Sunset Overheat Syndrome™️

Perhaps not that far, but something more along the lines of this: Where the current outline is marked in blue, and my theory of how it could expand marked in red once the corresponding developments finish. This is obv not based in any hard fact except my takes on where the neighbourhood is and...

That is excessively lame, and I'm not sure why I had hope for better in Toronto. Thanks for sharing! Silver lining: At least the building is pretty to look at from the outside.

    Distillery District

Unsure if this is the right place to discuss this, but I couldn't find another thread in the forum for it. As the neighbourhood develops, are there plans to expand the Christmas Market East towards Tannery Road, and then North towards Front as those parking lots fill in? Especially given the...

Any word on a restaurant tenant for the top floor/glass canopy? Really looking forward to Toronto having our very own Walkie Talkie!

    Toronto Toronto | Freed Hotel & Residences | 219m | 63s | Freed | AS + GG

It being a hotel (partial commercial use) does give an opportunity to buck the trend you're describing. As well, Aura was a bit of a market maker as a project, nothing like it had ever been built in Toronto when it went up. Since then, the price PSF (and maintenance fees) have risen to the point...

Also prevents the building from looking too much like a zipper. streamlines the façade. I don't mind the balconies jutting out, but they're present on just about every single building in this city and gets kinda tired. Good to see some variance.

Guesstimating, but I'd wager the building's final height sits somewhere around the 30s mark of that video. Really cool shot from their marketing team.

    Toronto Toronto | 545 Lake Shore West | 72.75m | 21s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

The tower is bad, but the pedestrian engagement looks like they're at least trying. It will come down to the tenant mix whether this block comes alive or not. Hopefully we won't get the standard Toronto Condo Retailer's Delight mix of Shoppers/Rexall, dentist, and bank branch. This level of...

The 'Managing Director' building: expensive looking, slight bulge in the middle, decisions made inside it include governing how much money you'll retire with.

It's completely kitsch of me to love the idea, but featuring a massive maple leaf, the symbol of our country, in the postcard view of our waterfront seems like an awesome differentiator for us. The only globally known identifier of Toronto is the CN Tower.

Wow, thank you for the mention! I can't express the number of times I've sat on/behind a GO bus on Lakeshore, grumbling to myself about how much better the system could have been with dedicated ramps, especially after having ridden through better-planned stations such as NYC's Port Authority...
