Project Overview

Metrolinx’s Eglinton Crosstown LRT will be a new 19-kilometre light rail transit line in midtown Toronto. With 25 stations and stops along the dedicated route, getting across town will be up to 60% faster than before. The Crosstown will link to 54 bus routes, three TTC subway stations and GO lines, providing important transit connections to get people to where they need to go faster than ever before..

What You Need to Know

As early as Monday, January 13, 2025, crews will be performing deficiency repair works at platform stops along Eglinton Avenue East, between Brentcliffe Road and Kennedy Road. To facilitate this work safely, periodic short-term rolling lane closures will be in place. Access to properties will be maintained at all times. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times on Eglinton Avenue East. This work is expected to take place on Monday – Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Upon completion of this work, periodic short term lane reductions may be required on Eglinton Avenue East to facilitate special activities.

WHAT TO EXPECT
  • Concrete barriers, fencing, and signage will be in place to delineate the work zones.
  • Noise from construction activities can be expected.
  • One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times.
  • Expect delays while traveling through the area.
HOURS OF WORK
  • As early as Monday, January 13, 2025, for approximately two (2) weeks.
  • This work is expected to take place from Monday – Friday between approximately 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to inclement weather and/or unforeseen circumstances.
  • This work may be longer or shorter than expected.
TRAFFIC DETAILS
  • Periodic short-term rolling lane closures will be required on Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe Road and Kennedy Road.
  • One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times.
PEDESTRIAN DETAILS
  • No changes to the current pedestrian routes are expected as a result of this work.
TRANSIT INFORMATION
  • Access to TTC will be maintained at all times.
  • Please visit www.ttc.ca for more information.

LOL would this fall under Crosslinx's construction contract or their maintenance contract? 😂😂😂

This project is the gift that just keeps on giving.

Maybe the wind and snow magically made the Sloane stop deficient again.
Damn it guys, you’re supposed to jackhammer the multiple stations within a walking distance of the each other guys, not Sloane!

That article is from 2023, but that they are apparently doing work to fix the exact same issue in the exact same area once again is what is enraging.
Exactly this.

Did Metrolinx not realize that there were "platform deficiencies" a year and half ago around the same time Sloane station was found to be deficient, but it's just now they've found and are getting to deficiencies in the surrounding area?

This whole thing is just comical and laughable.

Sorry, are you guys telling us that one of the "above ground" stations is getting torn up again?

Hi all, with all the bad news recently thought I would bring up some pictures of what will hopefully open this year🤞. I haven't seen these images before so wanted to share for those who have not seen them either.

These are picture from Caledonia, Mount Pleasant, and Cedarvale Stations.

Great photos. Really makes one wish the entire length of the Eglinton Crosstown was built underground as a proper subway.

pretty sure these photos are from mid-2024

I'm guessing the reason for the "delay" in opening the Crosstown LRT Line 5 is to not have the same problems that the Confederations LRT Line had in Ottawa. Unfortunately, we don't have a list of what Line 5 "problems" are. Still under lock and key. See https://www.tvo.org/article/ottawas-colossal-lrt-debacle-a-brief-ish-history
We can hope, but I wouldn't hold my breath for a smooth first year when it opens.

This project is like Ion and the confed line glued together, and will be operationally complex.

So I'm honestly not exactly sure how accurate what I'm about to say is since this could simply be broken telephone but I've heard from someone (who was told this by a person working on the project) that there are 6 platforms with deficiencies where the train doors do not line up with the platform. Supposedly they've been super slow at fixing this issues because - unsurprisingly - Metrolinx and Crosslinx have spent a ton of time - possibly in court - trying to figure out who messed up and who pays for the fix.
