Which is ironic because this move probably pushes the EU closer to China if anything. Their trade has been increasing as it has been everywhere else and China can act as a counter-proxy to Russia's creeping influence. If the US won't support the EU they have to start looking for friends elsewhere.

The Ukraine issue should be a massive red flag for people in this country as the US and Russia begin divvying up things like the Arctic. If the US are willing to abandon Ukraine they're willing to abandon us, too.
The US' hostility to Canada is also making us reconsider our relationship with China. I don't know if we would ever be allies, but the idea of friendshoring to buttress the West from China seems to be dead. The US wants to become an island and Canada will have to fend for itself with other players like Europe, Japan, China, etc.

Agreed. I don't seen an inherent issue with this in the short-term. We need to divest and diversify our economy away from the US ASAP, lest we get swept up in the same issues that are plaguing them. I'm sure we're able to balance our relations b/w Mexico, China, East Asia, and Europe.
Shocking. Musk and his activities are going over like a lead balloon.
It's not as if they'll be going to the polls any time soon. And even if they do they won't be free and fair elections. Approval rating doesn't mean anything if there's nobody to run elections.

I think the US is moving into all kinds of new territory. Their constitution is challenged daily, and there are a myriad of court challenges about it. The question is whether Republican appointed judges will make decisions based on the law of the land or on the law of Trump and what the fallout will be from that.

For a system that was bult on checks and balances as well as division of power, sometimes to the point of paralysis, it seems those are now sitting on their hands. The Executive is pulling toys out of Congress' sandbox and they don't seem willing to care. It seems partisan loyalty knows few bounds. I'm only seeing a few legal challenges to the parade of Executive Orders but it is early days yet.

It's still a "free" country. Well for those who agree with Trump and are not on his hate on list, that is... /bleh
