Why, though? What's wrong with the old bus terminal? I mean, apart from the Dubious Fluids that drip down on you from Pipelines Unknown, which is a problem that could be solved with a renovation, an approach which is cheaper, much less disruptive, and more environmentally friendly. There wasn't a problem with it until they started the construction works for the Crosstown, and it will be fine again when the SSE ends.

The upper level I suspect will suffer a similar fate as the old terminal at Wilson - it will be used as a storage space for Crap And Stuff. It could've also been a great place to store the SRT cars they or may not actually be saving, but I think that ship has sailed.
I was just wondering if it would become a maintenance headache over time, though if they seal off the two ends that trains used that would reduce degradation.
 
Why is TTC/City holding onto McCowan Station and the guideway? Looks like it’s impeding full development of this site and GreenP.
Are they going to build SRT phase2 to malvern after all??? LOL just my humor I’m not serious.
Since they extended the bus platforms at STC station but didn't build new shelters, the guideway is serving as a nice umbrella in the rain.
 
In a similar vein, is there any possible future use of the upper level at Kennedy? I'm wondering if eventually they'd just demolish the whole thing and build a new bus terminal
Demolition costs money, so it's cheaper to just leave it there. Now hopefully it does find a new use, but given the bigger financial priorities, I'm not surprised allocating money to tearing it down isn't really on the radar yet.
 
Anybody knowledgeable about drilling here? I find it very hard to believe that an experienced contractor would just be allowed to sit around and seemingly do nothing for almost a year. Unless they really need all that time to plan the next steps, but so far it doesn’t seem like much has happened at the intervention site.
 
I’m not particularly upset with the loss of these trees, but I expect better transparency from ML.

I’m sure there’s a good reason but they’re laughing if they want us to believe the station construction requires tree removal more than 100m from the station box.
They can't even start station construction at sheppard until the TBM is finished its journey and all the support infrastructure has been taken out 😂

Basically there is no agreement what to do with the STC guideway yet so it's staying up. One option is to maintain it as an active transportation "greenway", similar to something NYC is doing.

Sometimes I see some crane movement to lift things in and out of the pit and workers walking around.
But no dump truck movement on the regular.

Much of the land that the guideway is built upon is owned by third parties and leased back to the City/TTC for the guideway for the sole purpose of using it as a rapid transit corridor.

To maintain it would involve renegotiating those contracts to allow for other purposes. And right now it seems that there is very little appetite within the City do to so.
