I’m still waiting for a tower with cladding that complements its restored heritage base (similar colour, texture, etc). I don’t buy the BS about wanting to differentiate the tower from the base so it doesn’t overshadow the base, etc. If developers want to save money by using grey spandrels, fine, but at least be honest about it instead of spouting off such nonsense.
Same I feel like brick would’ve been perfect for this building. Especially with the shape idk how to describe it but there are many buildings in nyc similar to this one.

They seem to have done a fairly good job on the facade restoration, but in no way unique to this site, the use of LED strip lights really bothers me.

Mini-strip lights are not a heritage thing, and not the way a sign or cornice would have been illuminated back-in-a-day.

I can live with the choice on the cornice, IF, its done in a such a way that you can't see the strip lights.

But on store-level signage it reads as glaringly ahistorical to me. It just does not work. We saw this in the block of Yonge up by Yorkville among other projects and I didn't like it there either.
