It's more likely Russia will influence Greenland under the US than they would under Denmark or even their own selves. As for China...why the hell would they ever want Greenland? They have other ways of going after world assets that doesn't require them invading/occupying far flung jurisdictions. It's not something to joke about. At this point, how credible are American commitments to NATO?

I honestly think Europeans really need to start discussing a security alliance that doesn't have an American general as Supreme Allied Commander. It would suck for us. But it makes sense for them.

At this point, I am wondering how long Congress and the military will wait. If there is action, it will be swift and complete. Marshall law may result, but not in the way the Administration would imagine. The thing we all should be very concerned about is that he provokes a crisis in order to assume emergency power. I know people like to believe all kinds of conspiracy theories. But militaries in Western democracies, including the US, really aren't designed to take over countries. What could happen is that quite a few senior officers resign or refuse to carry out an order than they think is illegal. And then it comes down to Congress making a choice. Ordering those officers to comply. Or impeaching Trump.

...I also don't think the American people will allow for it. The more The Administration squeezes, the more they will resist. How this will all play out remains to be seen...but I haven't given up hope yet. As it also becomes increasingly more difficult to occupy something when more the elements are opposed to that. And for what that's worth.
