Time for some humour...

In a much-praised resolution to a roiling diplomatic crisis, on Wednesday Denmark offered Donald J. Trump “full ownership” of a room in an assisted living facility in Greenland.
The deal was orchestrated by French President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who were seen high-fiving moments after Trump signed the admission form.
Speaking to reporters, Carney said that Trump’s new home was actually located in Iceland, not Greenland, but added, “We’re pretty sure he doesn’t know the difference.”
For his part, President Macron acknowledged that the agreement represented a compromise, noting, “Our first choice was an ice floe.”

It’s a tweet or whatever, not a letter. He does know that, right?
There is zero evidence that he knows.

There is also zero evidence that he knows the difference between Greenland, Iceland and Antarctica:

So, it has been over 24 hours since Trump disparaged the sacrifices made by NATO soldiers who fought alongside Americans including the 159 Canadians who made the ultimate sacrifice for the United States and yet there has been no comment by Mark Carney. He was supposed to give a press conference on Friday from Quebec City but instead sent out his finance minister, a wimpy little man who when asked about Trumps slur of our fallen soldiers gave a tepid response that "you can't rewrite history" and "we honor the sacrifices of our soldiers". No condemnation of Trump's appalling comments or a demand for an apology. Pierre Poilievre issued a similar flaccid statement on X that avoided any criticism of Trump. Of course, Trump will never apologize but that should not stop us from demanding an apology! We can't keep letting this crap from Trump slide. For over a year our PM has allowed Trumps lies and slights directed at Canada slide without any attempt at a rebuke and look where that got us.

In written statements Carney’s office on Friday praised the “courage, service and sacrifice of Canadians who worked in close coordination with the United States and our NATO allies” in Afghanistan. “Their service and their sacrifice can never be diminished,” read the statement from spokesperson Laura Scaffidi, which echoed comments from Heritage Minister Marc Miller and Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne.

The complete lack of a strong rebuke is very disappointing. I expected a forceful response from Carney who somehow managed to work up the courage to deliver a very bold and powerful speech at Davos. What is wrong with him? What is wrong with this country? I haven't seen much outrage from Canadians over Trump remarks which were beyond the pale. The first four Canadian soldiers killed in Afghanistan were killed by "friendly fire" when an American F-16 dropped a bomb on them! THEY WERE ON THE FRONT LINE!

I notice that Trump's comments have stirred up much more outrage in the UK as expressed below by Sir Rod Stewart.

I don't know the actual number, but some of our Afghan ware dead were killed 'behind the line; - by trigger happy US forces.

As I said on another thread..

Does he not realize that Canada is one of the largest exporters to the US?

What this means is that Americans will be paying double for alot of things including oil and gas which is heavily imported from Canada.

Ah well, here's to hoping we don't increase our tariff rate to match. If we don't, this could be a win for us

We already signed the deal. And on the day we signed it, Trump said that’s Carney’s job, if he can get a deal with China he should. And China just ordered their first shipload of canola. There’s no going back.

Besides, the US buys far more stuff from China (electronics, devices, PCs, clothing, toys, tools, etc.) than Canada ever could.
