We can't seem to win 3 in a row, so I'm going to realistically accept a win 2, lose 1 pattern until they end of the season. Still gets us easily into the playoffs, where the real season begins.

While we haven't won more than 2 in a row this season, with a loss tonight, the Oilers will extend their streak of home losses to a team playing the night before to 5 in a row.

Frustrating :( That's why I'm settling in the 2 wins 1 loss pattern so long as they can do that. They looked good with those back to back shutouts, and then poof!

Those back to back shutouts were also against the two worst teams in the league - the 32nd last place Canucks and 31st place Blues.

Followed up by two home losses to teams with a winning record.

A couple more damning stats with respect to our beloved underachievers:
(1) as noted by @TAS above, the loss against Pittsburgh was the fifth consecutive home loss against teams that played the night before. Tonight could be the the sixth as Washington played in Calgary last night.
(2) Spector reported that the three goals against in 37 seconds by Pittsburgh set a new FRANCHISE record. Not sure what the previous mark was.
These are the kind of new lows set by lousy, bottom dwelling teams, not teams that were considered by many (at various points during the season) of being a Stanley Cup contender. At this point, I really have no idea who or what this team is.
One last note: while we have yet to win 3 games in a row this season, we have lost 3 games in a row 3 times so far. We have lost the last 2 games. Will tonight be the 4th - 3 game losing streak of the season? Let's watch!!

The two kinds of hockey games that I like are the squeakers where "our" team wins as per the game last night and the blowouts where "our" team wins 6-0 -- both types get the adrenalin flowing.
