Given how Trump's so lazy and careless and everything, I wonder what the likelihood is of *Miller* having the nuclear codes.

And also, at this point, with all the blatant and increasingly lethal lying, we're *really" going to see that Weekend At Bernie's scenario of Trump dying, but they refuse to announce or acknowledge it--which effectively *would* leave Miller and his gang "assuming" the presidency (particularly as not announcing Trump's passing would also negate the formality of Vance assuming the role).

Of course, all of that would be so *blatant*, I can't see it ending in any other way than a (literally) suicidal act on Miller's part.

It appears that Trump heard the loud outrage from the UK. Keir Starmer went on camera to condemn Trump's slur as "insulting and appalling". Piers Morgan condemned his sometime friend Trump using the strongest language. Not an apology from Trump but clear recognition that he effed up.

Trump hasn't posted similar appreciation for Canadian troops who died fighting for the United States in Afghanistan. Probably because Carney didn't condemn Trump and demand an apology. He has been in hiding for some reason. Had Carney issued a strong rebuke of Trump on Friday he would have had Trump on the back of his heels and Trump would have been less likely to make his 100% tariff threat yesterday morning. I had hoped that after his bold speech in Davos Carney would begin to stand up to Trump but he appears to still be cowed by Trump.

If Trump dies in office, which seems quite likely, it will be interesting to see if they try to autopen a bunch of pardons, which usually come as a president leaves office.

Preemptive self-pardons, at that. (Not least because Trump himself would be to lazy to have any of those in the can. I mean, it would be perfectly on-brand for him to sucker his own cabinet into getting busted.)

So, given how aggressively they're lying re Minneapolis--and addressing their critics in a "No Means Harder" way--yeah. I can see that. A turbo-charged version of an "Andropov cold". Trump literally *dead*--and they aggressively deny it, cover it up, etc etc for as long as they can, because they know how his "Presidential authority" keeps them off the hook. Of course, it would work about as well as a Monty Python parrot; but they're so high on power and high on their own delusion that they don't realize how they're setting up their own trap...

The US President doesn't walk around with code in his pocket; the 'football' is part of his entourage.

I guess it would be nice if the PM responded to Trumps assertions, particularly from the point of view of veterans and families, but we have a lot more at stake than the UK and perhaps he sees getting into a public hissy fit with a guy who lives on social media just isn't worth the squeeze.

True; but what/who does said "entourage" consist of? That's where the notion of Miller as the de facto *real* person in charge, in an "Edith Wilson" way, looms rather scarily...

I don't honestly know, and assume it depends on the nature of the trip (overseas vs flying home to play in his ballpit in Florida), but suspect is includes a senior military officer at all times.

Back in the 1980s, I was part of a Ronald Regan motorcade in Toronto (I was actually part of James Baker's motorcade but we got combined a couple of times) and I can tell you, in full court press, the 'entourage' is huge.

...I guess treating the US as is means not feeding the troll.
