Lots of cuts by WS to YEG again. ATL got pushed back to the end of June from the end of April. SEA got pushed back to the end of June from the middle of May. And for some reason we lose Abbotsford for two months from mid-April to mid-June.

But we got Kamloops back 3x weekly starting in May 🙄

I think West Jet is really having a moment. I follow some tik tok influencers that post local rock bottom airline deals and its all westjet. Bali, Japan, Europe… all absurdly cheap.

I tell ya Id sooner fly Flair, and do, then Westjet. Flair is upfront about what service they sell, whereas westjet sells the idea of what it once was.

Not too surprised about the (WS) WestJet cuts/suspensions.
As WS in S26 will consolidate most Domestic, US & International passengers through its Calgary YYC Fortress Hub✅!

While (AC) Air Canada doing the “same” through its Toronto YYZ, Vancouver YVR & Montreal YUL Hubs✅!

I just saw ATL on the board the other day?

It is just tough knowing that no matter how large the Edmonton metro gets, we will always be a spoke. 1.7M metro and growing . . . and it appears that YEG metro will never be enough because WS/AC love our bums filling seats from their hubs.
It’s Not just only WestJet & Air Canada focusing on its main Hubs in 🇨🇦 !

Porter Airlines route its connecting US/International passengers through Ottawa YOW, Toronto YYZ & Montreal YUL ✅.

Air Transat routes its connecting US/ International passengers through Montreal YUL, Toronto YYZ , Quebec City YQB & Halifax YHZ✅.

Flair routes its connecting US/ International passengers through mostly Vancouver YVR & Toronto YYZ✅.

Its not changing anytime soon.

Hub and spoke is here to stay. But in all honesty, our geography, climate, lack of attractions, lack of major businesses, lack of major corporate events are what's holding YEG back.

How do you create a business case for more airline seat capacity when outside demand is very limited.
Everything changes and evolves.
