Say it ain't so!But Doug Ford might be turning left
Some bus corridors like Jane and some intersections downtown do have extended green for years. It’s just the lack of funding and commitment and lead to slow expansion.I know this is a non-starter & would never happen, but it would be nice if buses could have TSP over cars as well, for the same reason of not inconveniencing dozens of people just to prioritize those in their personal cars.
I also mean things like giving buses the right of way in situations where cars wouldn't have the right of way, but obviously I realize that's unrealistic and would only confuse all drivers & overcomplicate the rules of the road. Some bus corridors like Jane and some intersections downtown do have extended green for years. But how enhanced will it be?According to Olivia enhanced TSP for line 5 will activate before the end of this month. She called it the first round...
If that bus was stuck behind a car, a transit only phase is pointless. Unless it’s Brimley and Ellesmere where many cars identify as bus and makes that left turn.I also mean things like giving buses the right of way in situations where cars wouldn't have the right of way, but obviously I realize that's unrealistic and would only confuse all drivers & overcomplicate the rules of the road.
No clue. She didnt elaborate. But how enhanced will it be?
What sparked this thought was being on the 925 last night waiting to make a left from Broadview ave. to Broadview station and having to wait for oncoming cars going straight to pass first. At that moment I thought, "it'd be nice if the bus could have priority right now". Then again, cars make lefts there too, and buses also go straight up Broadview, so trying to implement a 2-tier system where left-turning buses get priority but left-turning cars don't is pure fantasy. If that bus was stuck behind a car, a transit only phase is pointless. Unless it’s Brimley and Ellesmere where many cars identify as bus and makes that left turn.
People should carry protesting signs to the opening date...Doug Ford is a coward for refusing to hold a public inquiry into the Eglinton Crosstown LRT! With fifteen years of construction, costs of over $13 billion, and endless disruption to local businesses, the public deserves answers NOW!

No public inquiry into Eglinton Crosstown LRT woes, Doug Ford says: ‘Buddy, you’ve got to be a little more positive’
The premier and Toronto’s mayor, along with other dignitaries, marked the opening of the long-delayed Eglinton Crosstown LRT on Friday with the unveiling of a plaque.www.thestar.com

If they are afraid of that harm, they should have done better. While I understand the public wants someone's head on a pike, if they have a public inquiry it affects ALOT of people, not just current politicians but those from the past decade or more. The complexity of any inquiry would pale in comparison to anything held before.
Liberals, PC they are all tied to this debacle with Dalton McGuinty launching it in 2011. Yes Doug Ford had the most recent hand in things but that does not mean he was the only one.
Having a public inquiry could do alot more harm than good and I can see why people want to quash the idea.
Would have to start with Doug's mentor, former Premier Mike Harris, who killed the Eglinton West Subway in the 1990's.
