Interesting.... Wonder what is coming... View attachment 716088
I imagine it could just be rental units being available or a hotel operator named (could just be the Laundry Rooms operator again or perhaps someone more prestigious). You also have to remember most people aren't as tuned in as we are to these redevelopments so more often than not I assume it's something basic I already know about. Could also be retail announcement, but I believe there's only a single retail unit from my recollection?

Must love the English language.... Does "surrounding" mean "about" or "adjacent to". Regardless it's plural, and a welcome statement that more positive things to come.

You might be reading too much into it. Something as simple as completion of a phase of construction could constitute an exciting announcement.

It would be wonderful for the city if something like the Royal Hotel in Picton is created here.
The rumours I've heard don't specifically relate to this building, but the "surrounding" areas.

But based on a re-review of the ground floor here, it does appear that they aim to be doing something similar to the Royal Hotel. Myself, I welcome that, not just because again, I think a big solution to the issues in this area come from active commercial and people roaming, but also because the Royal Hotel is super nice honestly. We didn't stay in the hotel, largely due to cost, but we've eaten on the ground floor and walked the Picton strip.

While surely bougie, Hamilton could use a few more truly upscale spaces. I do love my grungy old school places (if they're actually good, shout-out to Giuseppe's Italian) but I do think there's value in a mixture of types of spaces.

The only downside is idiot landlords with grey laminate, paint, and 15,000 6000kelvin potlights thinking their rental unit is worth way too much money. The commercial space where Caro was is like $10,000/month which is absolutely insane and I struggle to imagine what kind of business would be able to pay that, in addition to property taxes($270), utilities, staffing and supplies and still make a profit. Clearly some commercial spaces are thinking every restaurant is going to be fancy as heck.

Again, I think whatever goes here will be successful and add a lot of value to the area. With the arena being regularly filled, I imagine many people from our of town are looking for hotels nearby, especially coming up from the states.

I have never understood why they don't put mesh or screens with holes over the drains to prevent them from getting clogged...

also do we know if the roof area is going to be occupied at all internally? Seems like a lot of work if it's just going to stay empty inside..
