Do we have any word on when the high-rise second tower is coming to the Switch? Last time I heard Qualico was getting more bullish on its design and proposing something much higher than originally planned.

CBRE mentioned that it was starting this year, and considering they both reported the CN tower and Highfield place conversions (which both turned out to be happening), I'm inclined to trust them on this one.

I know I’ve said this before, but I’m still pleasantly surprised at how quickly this has leased up. I thought being so close to the Hope Mission would’ve been a major deterrent to many.

I am a huge fan of these integrated developments, particularly when they are completed to the high Quality exhibited here. There is a lesson here for other developers.

There’s also a lesson for municipalities.
It can take time to do some things right when you work in a market but know you don’t make the market (although you can certainly influence it).
Qualico purchased this site more than a quarter century ago with a vision for a high quality mixed use site and was prepared to wait to execute that plan rather than compromise it. It’s also worth noting that while the plan has been amended on numerous occasions to respond to the market, the vision did not, something that requires outright and not DC zoning.

This is such a great looking development, it's just too bad that it's going to feel disconnected from downtown until those lots south of Epcor/CN tower are developed, which is unlikely to happen any time soon
