A building shrouded in mystery is being constructed by Claridge. We know it will be 22s tall and we have ancient Pre-COVID renders from the SSP Ottawa thread that give us an idea of what it might look like.

If they use good materials like their last two projects, should be pretty decent, if a bit weird.

I wonder why it's forming such a clump. That block is not part of the NCC Protected Views. The City controls the height there.

Maybe they're all at some kind of storey threshold of profitability and that's why they never get beyond a certain height.

I think it's lack of ambition and a city council stuck in 1996.

This tower was approved when we started transitioning from 12 floor limits to 27 floor limits. It was considered on the tall side at the time. But it also seems like no one wants to "rock the boat" anywhere near Rideau or the Market even though taller slim towers would be far better than the bloated stupes we've seen in the last 20 years.

Same! I lived some of the best years of my life there. I still appreciate the spartan design philosophy. One bedroom apartments were $127k at launch.

Personally I really like 126 York st. I enjoy the set back design and I think they did the heritage aspect quite well.
