this is so weird, why would they lie about that. they didnt like the idea that other countries produce better cars than us? at a cheaper price?

Also the reference to go Expansion trains too. The rumored electric locos that have been scrapped?
This Doug Ford government is almost as corrupt as Daniel Smith.
 
Considering how awful the Alstom Citadis Spirits have been, and they're manufactured in Brampton, I'm not entirley against this.

I want to support Canadian made trains, but not if they're of poor quality.

Hopefully the Mark V SkyTrains in Vancouver hold up well. I believe those were manufactured in Quebec. IIRC the REM trains in Montreal are majority manufactured in India. Perhaps assembled in Quebec?

Where do they still manufacture heavy rail locomotives in Canada?

My guess is the Province is going to talk to Wabtec about supplying GO with new locomtovies, and they'll be built entirley in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Bombardier (Alstom) has dual modes.

Who knows how the sky train will perform here. Remember they are based on srt architecture which had lots of issues in the canadian winter
 
Maybe whomever is designing can take the bilevel design and make power cars out of them to finally get that dmu train going like it was originally envisioned by hawker siddley. Then again its a fantasy.....

I don’t think there are any plants who would still build new locomotives in Canada with the closure of the EMD plant in London back in 2012. Could Alstom build either Wabtec or EMD locomotives under licence or as a subcontractor in the Thunder Bay plant?

I suppose GO can still get some F59PHIs from SPTX or Metra of Chicago?

Screw buying leftovers from the yanks. Either buy new or we develop our own rolling stock. Maybe import an Alstom loco from Europe to be certified here
 
There was that little teaser from Alstom a couple of years ago showing a render of a possible locomotive for GO Transit.
 
Alstom made a preliminary electric locomotive design for metrolinx a few years ago, it was very angular. Didn’t really look like the drawing shown in that video

ALP-46 and ALP-45DP are both cousins of the Adtranz/Bombardier/Alstom Traxx family, as ACS-64 / Charger is of Eurosprinter / Vectron. So the only North American locos presently being made are either actually European built (Alstom) or European design origin (Siemens)

well anything else other than the charger? No diesel alternatives from Alstom....
