As of early last year, Beljan's plan was to preserve it and have it designated. I haven't heard anything since.

It wouldn't be bad for some other locations, perhaps suburban ones but not great for here. I wish we had stronger or more stringent rules for new development in areas with historic buildings.

Well, I am "inspired" by Warren Buffet, but that doesn't make me a billionaire. If they had windows similar to the Strathcona, the roof was higher and uninterupted perhaps, or if it had balconies of the adjacent appartment.
Initially I missed the small amount of brick in the section next to the school, so I suppose at least there is that. I guess at least this partly explains why this is such a mishmash.

It just doesn't make sense it me. Why would you go with this design when you can make a classier looking building with LESS materials? Why did we go with a surburban-style peaked roof?? I'm getting tired of this, man.

Developers -- If you are going to mail it in and then make excuses for sub-par design, please just wait until your rationale no longer needs to be supported by inane economic jibber-jabber. Do the City you live in a huge favor and get out of the business altogether!
