Nothing to do with tolls or politics, but has the MTO reconfigured the lanes at the 401/Huron Church interchange yet? The current/old provisional setup had the through lanes going to Huron Church, with a left exit to continue onto the 401 stub.

Last time I was at this exit (late summer 2025), all the lanes and everything are painted- the signs are ready to go too- they just have a temporary sign on top and some pylons directing the 'mainline' 401 traffic to Huron Church. I assume once an opening date is announced, it should relatively easy for the MTO to reconfigure the 401 towards Gordie Howe. They might temporarily block off a lane or two if they need to do any touch-up work with road paint and the like, but probably nothing more than a week or two of staggered work.

I suspect we will get an opening date within the next month or so, assuming Trump doesn't actually block opening. A lot of his recent threats to Canada have not resulted in follow-through, and this is one of the silliest of his threats, so I'd hope it will proceed. I could see mid- to late-april.

The latest flyover from Bob Jones shows that crews have mostly demobilized from the entire site and that the temporary crossing facility set up at the base of the bridge to manage construction traffic being dismantled - they are definitely cleaning up and ramping for opening:

From his video you can see lane painting on the 401 is complete:

A minor bit of work still happening on the expansion joint - this seems to be laggard of construction on the bridge:

Canadian customs has been cleaned up with the temporary crossing facility mostly de-assembled minus the construction trailer:
