New Brunswick has spent an outrageously large amount of money on highways for such a small population. A railway would need to be very fast to be competitive against the bus, let alone private cars. It's safe to say the Province has zero interest in passenger rail.

That highway building has an interesting history - and a history of federal funding.

Not really a bad investment, considering the value of the TCH link to Nova Scotia. I can't imagine NB maintaining its economy without it - so a necessity rather than a splurge.

I agree that NB does not have the resources or interest to go it alone with a rail investment, and would certainly not touch the Ocean as it would demand continued federal support.

I find the yellow-coded "at grade expressway" depictions somewhat curious.

The ones in Sudbury are barely hanging on.The baggage RDC is out. Makes me wonder what the summer service will look like.
In the summer when there aren't as many venture issues i bet they could stage an F40 and two Budd coaches. I don't know if they have any baggage cars available.

That's my classification for limited-access roads that aren't grade separated. So basically it's a two-lane road without driveways
