The Square One Drive extension will see it extended from Confederation Blvd west to Rathburn Rd W roundabout west of Elora drive with part of it all ready build beside Parkside Village AVIA. The other phase will see it extended east of Hurontario St to Rathburn Rd E Roundabout as a 5 connection at Shipp Dr

The City Centre Drive extension is two extension and will be interesting how the road name change since they will become 2 different roads. The current east-west section will continue east south of the current 55 City Centre tower on an angle to connect with Hurontario St at Absolute Dr. The north-south section will continue south to Burnhamthorpe Rd W with a new intersection. This will help in the redevelopment of that large parcel parking lot on the north-west corner of Hurontario St, Burnhamthorpe Rd W and Robert Speck Pkwy

Both road extension will have an impact on the LRT loop that is in limbo at this time due to the EA's and will not be built while after the line opens in 2028 or the end of 2027.

The City of Mississauga has initiated two separate Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) studies for Square One Drive and City Centre Drive in Downtown Mississauga. The projects are building on the City’s Downtown Movement Plan (2024), which identified the need for a multi-modal fine-grained street network in downtown Mississauga and recommended the extensions of Square One Drive and City Centre Drive.

The Class EA studies will assess the need and examine alternatives for the potential road extensions. Due to the proximity of the two study areas, the studies are being undertaken concurrently to confirm the transportation needs and to identify and evaluate a range of multi-modal solutions to improve connectivity and support future travel demand in the area.

CIMA+ is assisting the City in conducting the studies, which are being completed in accordance with the Schedule ‘B’ Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (2024), approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act.

This month, the City is holding the first of two Public Information Centres to provide an opportunity for the public and interested parties to discuss these studies with the project team. The Public Information Centre will be held on March 26, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm (drop in) at the Living Arts Centre (Mississauga Room) on 4141 Living Arts Drive in Mississauga. The Public Information Centre materials will also be made available on the study website on March 26, 2026. Further details about the Public Information Centre are provided in the attached notice.

We invite you to review the Public Information Centre materials and provide your feedback to the project team by April 9, 2026.

I think this was just a preliminary concept, from what I've heard City's transportation dept. prefer the following configuration instead as it's a more efficient use of land (leaves a development parcel at Shipp/Rathburn intersection) & less chaotic than a 5 connection roundabout.

Does the median make it impossible to add a left turn from Hurontario St southbound to Square One Drive east extension ?

Some new project documents were uploaded today here. A bit short on details: the alignment for the City Centre drive extension "will be developed in the next phase of the project". I.e. no word on whether they'll wait for the Morguard building to be torn down, or if the extension will loop around it.

---

Edited to add: I went to the open house this evening.

There wasn't any new information that isn't already available on the website.

According to the consultants present, there are no new developments with respect to the Morguard property at City Centre Drive. Whatever detailed plan will be for the "long term", with nothing definite in the near future.

Very small turn out.

The folks from the residential buildings off Rathburn opposed the Square One extension as well loosing the greenspace that exist today for the extension. I agree with the folks that the waking along Rathburn to Sq One is not pedestrian friendly as well not safe for the ramp to Hurontario along with the Transitway. Even the ramp to Hurontario at Hurontario is not safe for pedestrians as well having a blind spot to Hurontario for drivers on it. The ward councillor echo the concerns as he has received numerous complaints in the past.

It seem no one is aware of the proposed change for the Transitway along the north side of Rathburn to the new Terminal.

The roundabout at Shipp Dr was in the picture until early this year to the plan current proposed connection.

There is still talk of extending City View to Burnhamorpe either as a full intersection or a right in/out onto Burnhamorpe. Regardless if City Centre is or not extended to Burnhamorpe, 55 City Centre has to come down as there is not enough room to build the extension to Hurontario. As noted, there are no plans for Morguard lands at this time and the last proposal is dead with 55 remaining regardless its no at full rental as well the north tower.

This is a 10 year view what the city wants to see for the area.
