With the tents coming down, it’s clear now that there is substantial work left.

In addition to what can be seen in that overhead view, I went by the Bay Street side last night and while some of the harder work is done (granite curbs are installed) many of the granite pavers still remain to be laid.

Inside, the tiling towards the door is still not installed and they’ve opened up a dozen holes in the ceiling.

doesn't look like opening is imminent.

The developer, who is continuing to get his permits lined up. Section 37 and similar 'fees' are negotiated during the to-ing and fro-ing of municipal approvals. This from last fall notes what is happening: (FROM: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2025/pb/bgrd/backgroundfile-259736.pdf )

Note that the original canopy that formerly ran along the south facade of the building (over the Lane discussed above) will be reinstated.
Thanks for this. I get it, but with the condo market in the funk that it is, I don't see them moving forward with construction anytime soon. I think we may be stuck with ugly paving next to CIBC Square for quite some time.

I guess we will find out in due course. It will be what it will be!

It's not bad as once thought. The Dominion Building's driveway is just 1/4 of the laneway. It's been badly damaged during construction so it's most likely going to be resurfaced. It'll be fine to have a narrow driveway next to the granite plaza.

Nope. They seem to be dealing with widespread deficiencies in that transit lobby area. The granite pavers in the plaza could be laid fairly quickly but I wouldn't hold my breath. At one point they seemed to be racing, now there's either one guy or no one on site every time I've passed by in the last week or two.

Got some daytime shots.

I guess if the lobby were finished, they could gate around the unfinished sidewalk and people would walk through the finished square.

But I had a look inside and the ceilings are still all cut up. Whatever the new deadline is on this, they’re shooting way past the original Fall 2025 opening.

Apparently some employees were told they will move in sometime this coming June so that's probably the new opening deadline... for now at least. This building definitely took much longer to complete compared to the first one.

I assume there is no huge pressure from tenants to move in and thus no pressure on the contractors to 'get it done'. Patience!

Today three guys (I think) were washing the interior windows of the Bay Street Bridge. I assume it will soon be handed over to whoever is managing it on an ongoing basis (CIBC or Union Station?) and that, when the escalators on the east side are finished, it will open.

It's funny because they had already cleaned the windows a few weeks back. I guess it's still a construction zone and getting dusty. There were a few scissor lifts parked in there changing lightbulbs last week. Maybe they're using them to clean the windows too.

The escalators are finished. They're dealing with something in the ceilings and have scaffolding mounted on the escalator stairs to reach them.

I assume they are testing and that it will soon be disassembled util the fall. It has been a late spring but I think we are actually exiting skating season!
Double to high single digits forecast after today...

...this thing will take up an awful lot park real estate here if it's left dormant for the rest of the warm season.

They have to take the opportunity to have a grand opening with the tower lights, two PATH bridges, a landscaped ground floor and an operable ice rink linking the CIBC Square Park between two towers. That will be news worthy.

May 1 or sooner?

Assuming they sized the evaporator bed and the compressors for the load which I’m sure they did. You could have a sunny or rainy 20C day in January and February.

I don’t think there is grass under the new portion of the rink and I think they removed the old grass portion. Maybe they will lay new sod after the rink removal.
