Wonder what pushed her, could also be she saw a majority coming and decided to sit on the gov side. I would not expect her to be on the inside of the leadership though. Backbench.

Here I am laughing because this is gonna be my riding for the next 3 1/2 years. It is very surprising she crossed, but most of the people I've spoken with around here seem to be supportive of it, which is even more surprising.

I think that's a reflection of a number of things including:

1. How poorly the public perception of Poilievre's ability to be Prime Minister really is. That commercial with his apple-crunching, gloating cynicism towards a reporter in an orchard will haunt him forever (and perhaps rightfully so).
2. How well the public continues to value Carney's ability to be Prime Minister (and more than perhaps also rightfully so).
3. How much the public really wants their politicians to govern our country on a non-partisan basis after being elected and not solely on behalf of the party they happen to be affiliated with.
4. How much the public wants what happens here to be anything but what's taking place with our American neighbours and their faux king.

I’m not saying there’s never a place or situation for floor crossing but this is starting to feel a bit gross and a slap in the face of voters.

If you look at the relative perceptions of Poilievre and Carney today vs last Election Day and the fact voters have a right to change who they support without it being “a bit gross” or a slap in the face, it would be just as easy to say these floor crossings reflect the sentiments of voters in their ridings.

I can guarantee my MP will not cross the floor. Not that he would but just if that happened , after the Liberals stopped laughing there would be an emphatic NO. I have no issues with Floor crossing, I don't like it but it happens. We never really learn the motivation. So its hard to guess the reasoning. But in this case there must be a lot of dissatisfaction in the party.

It sounds like there will still be more. A unique time in Canadian politics in terms of the leadership makeup in conjunction with desire for more of a unified front with the economic threat from US.

Huge, huge investments being made in military/defense and for most part Canadians are on board with this across party lines and that would have been hard to imagine 18 months ago.
