To be fair, it took them what? more than a year? to change the name of Science Centre Station after announcing plans to move it. With this government, I wouldn't ascribe inactivity as anything with regards to Ford's OPC. Transparency isn't in their wheelhouse.
When I think of all the developers that will benefits with the current alignment, a further reason why I don't see diyg changing it. I think the alignment is safe. But yes, you have a valid point.

Not sure these pics should go in this thread, but what is happening under the Gardiner at the Yonge off ramp?

Work has started (first I noticed) on the $1,000,000 per month or per bent repair however you want to slice it for 5 Bents.

East of Bay. Looking east.

Staging under the Bay on-ramp west of Yonge.

About time, the bents in that block LOOK ghastly even if they are safe and it's a prime location. Question is when does the City (or Mr Ford??) plan to demolish and remove the Bay on-ramp and shorten the Jarvis-off ramp so it ends at Yonge!

Missed that, thanks.
It took me awhile to find the thread and post too.

From the biking thread I posted. @Sauga89 found this answer.

Now I’m even more curious. What do they need this space for? Moving current “Operations” between Jarvis and Sherbourne to here? How will they leave it? What’s next for this area? Bridge over tracks for access. @WB62
PATH to One Yonge.

More details over the week.

I sincerely hope that plan doesnt go ahead.

Having the Jarvis off-ramp end at Yonge is just a recipe for a traffic gridlock disaster, and frankly I think it's an incredibly short-sighted plan by the city that wasnt thought through properly at all.

No different than what takes place at Jarvis today and would improve the look at Jarvis as well. It would allow the removal of the close Jarvis ramp for freeing up space.

Seems to me to be an upgrade. It's currently always difficult at the bottom of that ramp merging with Lakeshore East. But at Yonge, you wouldn't have any traffic to merge with, simply a traffic light near the bottom of the light for the all-new intersection at Yonge.

I'm less convinced about the discontinuity between Harbour Street and Lakeshore East though.

That's the whole issue.

Imagine all the vehicles turning from Yonge southbound wanting to go eastbound on Lake Shore, then vehicles turning northbound and eastbound with the new Yonge/Harbour intersection. Then you'll have vehicles turning southbound on Yonge trying to get Downes St (Harbour St extension).

Then add all the buses trying to turn from Harbour northbound to Yonge, then turn again westbound on Lake Shore.

All with the city's inability to properly time signalized intersections.

It's all a recipe for a complete disaster, and a gridlocked congested mess. The ramp reconfiguration project idea needs to die, it's not a good plan at all.

The number of vehicles arriving at Lakeshore/Jarvis, eastbound on Lakeshore is unchanged. Except all the merging goes away, increasing the throughput of the intersection.
