MPP Stephen Lecce put out a short video proclaiming all major work at Maple GO is now completed.
Looking at the drone shots of the station, there is a sizable gap between the two tracks. Are there plans to incorporate a third track at Maple GO to allow for some kind of express service on the Barrie Line?

Finch Grade Separation. I believe this is looking north from the road (assuming the buildings to the right are Access Storage).

so referencing from this photo looks like they dug up the track just before finch.

It’s merely futureproofing for doing that some day… but not currently in the works.

the amount of political bait and switching recently for GO expansion is just vomit inducing.🤢🤮

True in many places, but triple tracking on the Barrie line was never really part of the plan, certainly not to get to 30 minute or even 15 minute 2WAD.
A lot of future proofing is 15 or 20 years grom being needed. It will pay off one day, but let’s care the most about the immediate steps.

Problem is they're dragging this out for more money to do nothing. Barrie should have had 30 minute service during the pandemic, this has been in the works since 2007.

the bigger question is that they earmarked BILLIONS for GO expansion... I have yet to hear a clear explanation on how that money was spent since we are only a fraction of the progress on project completion and they seemingly have reach their budget. WHERE DID ALL THE MONEY GO?!

Simply put, wouldn't the current PC government and the previous Wynne government simply argue that any money spent outside of the Georgetown South Project was ultimately for GO RER/Expansion for track capacity expansion, and the next spend will be for overhead catenary (starting with LSE and LSW), some form of ETCS signaling, and new rolling stock? So the billions spent are for the stuff under construction now, and billions to be spent are for stuff we haven't seen yet. cc @crs1026

I haven’t heard what work is finished at Maple … but… the MPP’s prose means little if the second track hasn’t been cut in from Concord to Teston.
Until then, it’s just another pretty looking unused platform that won’t see a single train until that next task gets completed.
And the way ML sequences work, it may be a long wait #WestHarbourTailTrack

well how much of that initial $XXX has been spent and how much is remaining? I guess some adventurer will need to submit a FoIA request for their accounting books on this.

This is a fair point. The spend against baseline is reported in Board meetings - but as others have noted previously, there is no public disclosure about work completed against that spend. If some X% of the baseline has been spent, is the project that % complete, or has that spend only accomplished x-y% of the work? This is a major deficiency in ML’s accountability, and neither Ford nor the Premier before him have ever fessed up.

I'm quite confident I already know the answer to this question BUT.................I don't suppose these grade separations and station upgrades are going to have catenary infrastructure put up at the same time?

The same Maple GO that got NIMBY'd?
The original station design included entrances on the west side of the tracks but the residents in that neighbourhood lost their freaking minds claiming that criminals would come to their neighbourhood and make their getaway on the GO train. I wish I were exaggerating, but honestly it gets crazier than that. Somewhere on UT I posted screenshots of the public consultation comments, but I can't find it. Metrolinx deleted the entrances from the station to the adjacent neighbourhood because they were putting the whole project in political jeopardy.
I found the screenshots from the Maple Station public consultation about the proposed pedestrian entrance from the west side of the tracks (from this post):

For some reason none of them acknowledged the irony of being outraged about a railway station entrance from Railway Street.
