    St Lawrence Market

This is for @DSC but others are welcome to chime in, of course. I just returned from visiting friends and family in Montreal and Boston. I travelled all over the two cities, which I love. I noticed that all of their streetlights have been changed to LEDs. I noticed because my night vision was...

    Perceptions of Accesible Retail Downtown

There's more than enough groceries to go around? In St. Lawrence neighbourhood? Umm, I can think of only two, Metro at Church and Front and No Frills at Front and Princess, both of which are very busy already. And there's a strong possibility that No Frills will be closing soon to make way for a...

Toronto Toronto | Concord Park Place: Ethennonnhawahstihnen' Community Centre | 18.9m | 4s | City of Toronto | MJMA

Is there a respectful way of using a diminutive of Ethennonnhawahstihnen' for those who are linguistically impaired? Otherwise, I think people are just going to call it Park Pace Community Centre.

@canadaniel Those shots are stunning. Thanks for sharing them.

@DSC or @Northern Light Just an aside, does Berczy Park have sprinklers? The grass there is looking kind of rough.

What's happening with Arabica? I've been looking forward to it but I see no progress toward its opening. (Sorry if this was discussed on a previous page.)

Pecault Square needs a makeover desperately. It's long overdue.

    Toronto Toronto | Queens Quay & Water's Edge Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

I thought the revitalization happened sometime around 2009. Isn't that when around 3 wave decks were introduced? Did the rebuild happen after those wave decks? Just trying to get my timelines straight.

@Northern Light This is directed to you as you seem to be exceptionally knowledgeable about urban trees. The other evening, I went for a walk on Queens Quay from York to Spadina. Based on my observation, 30% - 40% of the street trees were dead or dying. Many of the dead trees were also the...

@Northern Light Is Dutch Elm Disease truly over? Are we going to have gorgeous elm trees along Wellington? The elms in the Canary District seem to be thriving. 😍

Great restaurant. Pricey though. Glad they're coming to Toronto.

^^ Or maybe they can deploy some heaters / heat lamps

    Toronto Toronto | home: Power and Adelaide | 78.33m | 22s | Great Gulf | Core Architects

Are inherently un-demised retail spaces bad retail design? Are walls of glass at grade bad retail design? They're bad architectural and urban design, especially the glass, but I'm not sure about the retail angle. I'm assuming the goals are maximum flexibility and visibility / transparency. And...

    Toronto Toronto | 88 Queen | 167.35m | 52s | St Thomas Dev | Hariri Pontarini

Based on the renderings, I'm hoping that some sort of screening element will be applied to cover the mystifyingly-bad tower cladding. I'm not optimistic though. I see no evidence of another layer to come, i.e., no brackets are anything like that. I'm baffled that HPA, one of the best firms in...

    Toronto Toronto | Church and Wellesley | 101.78m | 31s | ONE Properties | S9

I don't understand what that space is at the corner. It looks like a driveway/drop-off. I'm not feeling it. The rest of the building isn't bad, as long as the materials are decent. Material selection will be crucial here.

@Benito You need to go to the roof of your building (safely).

This is a design downgrade, IMO. I'm seeing a lot of VE'ing.

    Toronto Toronto | 88 Queen | 167.35m | 52s | St Thomas Dev | Hariri Pontarini

I'm guessing the developer's thinking is, since the west and east elevations will be blocked by neighbouring towers in a couple of years, why spend good money unnecessarily? Mint green toothpaste doesn't belong on buildings though. It looks like sh*t.
