    Downtown

If we somehow get the second urban Costco in the country, I will buy everyone in this forum a Costco hot dog lol

Oof those price jumps for townhomes

    Downtown

Seems like there's decent momentum with new restaurants in downtown, now just hoping for some retail options or even some thrift stores too tbh

    Downtown

Seems like we're in a slight positive trend of office space absorption lately. Here's hoping we reach 10-15% vacancy by the end of the year? (lol I know that's a long shot but let me dream)

Here's hoping rich people come through for this project :)

ETS Bus and General Transit Improvements

It’s been hit or miss for me when I’m in the DT stations, sometimes it’s sparklingly clean and sometimes it’s incredibly dirty. I still believe permanent peace officer presence should be a thing for all downtown stations and it’s frustrating to see that it’s not the case.

    General Food & Dining Thread

Oh I completely disagree. As someone who’s from Asia, this will actually attract a significant amount of us, spam rules

    Downtown

I believe so. The signs for La Pampa have been there for a long time after they stopped operating. Just saw the new signs today which I'm very glad to see.

    Downtown

Was walking around and there now seems to be a new tenant in the works where the old La Pampa on 109 St used to be! A Korean restaurant!

Honestly I'm extremely curious how they design and build that LRT access, I'm really hoping it's more spacious and aesthetically pleasing than the Central entrance by Bistro Praha.

Could this be marketed in any way to out of towners? Last time I drove around Blatchford, I saw some BC and Ontario plates parked around.

If they keep this up they'll give this mayor and council a plank for re-election. I get that their focus is probably getting rid of Gondek and a chunk of Calgary's city council, but I would laugh and cackle if this whole shtick backfired on them. Aside from UCP diehards, a lot of people saw this...

    Municipal Politics

Completely safe to say, and incredibly obvious, that the provincial government is going to start implementing policies that will actively harm both Edmonton and Calgary. Other politicians would do it subtly but this is plain and obvious for everyone to see.
  18. K

    Alberta Politics

Clearly not targeted :) At this rate, we can see the UCP playbook, offload responsibilities to the two major cities, allow them to take the political hit to bring in more UCP aligned councils (based on political parties of course). TAPYEG coming out swinging, and now this?

    Alberta Politics

Do they want Sohi to win re-election? Because if they keep pulling all this and he keeps being more vocal, that's going to be his (and by extension a large chunk of council's) path forward on this.

    Edmonton | Stantec Tower | 250.84m | 66s | ICE District Prop.

CMHC had the downtown zone/neighbourhood at 4% and 3% vacancy respectively, and this was based on Oct 2023 numbers, we're finally seeing more tangible and visible results of this drop. This probably bodes well for all the rental projects downtown tbh.
