    VIA Rail

Yeah, a health card or driver's license also works. The funny thing is that they only check in Toronto and if you get on at any of the intermediate stations, they' don't care.

Did you get hit with an extra baggage fee?

    VIA Rail

It was 3 gym bags on the Thursday before reading week. I actually see it quite regularly near reading week and exams. I think you'd be surprised about what people bring, I've seen laser printers, bags of dirty laundry, and I swear, a glass bong sitting just casually sitting on the luggage rack...

I was kind of assuming that the government would backstop this through subsidies, but I see your point with the cuts. From a politician's point of view, it's really easy to say that the $143 million a year is a subsidy to people who don't need it and that the money is better invested in...

    VIA Rail

Megabus is $16 each way, GO is $10 return on Sundays and $20 each way on all other days. The problem with VIA /GO/MegaBus is that they all take you to downtown Niagara Falls which is quite far away from the convention center. You'll lose all the time you save taking the train trying to get to...

    VIA Rail

Train is slower 90% of the time. Car is fastest, then Megabus, then VIA, then GO. People on that route who take VIA are often tourists, people going to the states, or people using passes.

The corporate plan says that they're using rebuilt HEP units with new LRC style seating though.

No, they don't receive subsidies from the government, they're not crown corporations, and they don't have a monopoly. AIrlines are a private service which are operated to serve their shareholders and turn a profit. VIA is public transit just like the GO Train, the TTC, YRT, MiWay, etc. Unlike...

    VIA Rail

As a passenger, the reason we pick VIA is because we don't like being nickled and dimed. Remember, VIA is a public service and not a for-profit corporation. If VIA does this, they should also provide an option to do it for free 24 hours in advance, like the airlines.

It also contains milk found the ingredients list: WHEAT FLOUR, SHORTENING (VEGETABLE, MODIFIED PALM), SUGAR, GOLDEN SYRUP, MODIFIED MILK INGREDIENTS, WHEAT BRAN, MALT EXTRACTS (BARLEY, CORN), SALT, BAKING SODA, AMMONIUM BICARBONATE. CONTAINS: WHEAT, MILK, BARLEY.

    VIA Rail

It is with regret that I announce that VIA has replaced it's emergency food from a pack of Cloverleaf Hummus and Crackers with this measly vegan, gluten-free cereal bar. Edit They also gave us a cookie.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

It could be done through a combination modified hours, overtime, or by growing the spare board at select divisions.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I'm just saying that the TTC should park older run as directed busses in existing stations and bus loops. Just like how the TTC parks some subway trains in the tail tracks of terminal stations overnight. They'll still get serviced at existing divisions. Just at less busy times. What I'm...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I know... Can't wait till the TTC gets them. The TTC will start piloting a self-driving minibus this September. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/autonomous-driverless-shuttle-scarborough-toronto-1.5276550 Regarding your other points, the TTC is moving towards a fully electric fleet...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

So do VIA Rail's trains, the trains that layover overnight in Sarnia and Kingston get cleaned, fueled, inspected, and maintained during the day at the Toronto Maintenance Center, the same thing with GO Transit. I never said that the busses shouldn't be cleaned, just that the TTC should have kept...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

No, I'm not, stop putting words in my mouth. The driver can be responsible for checking the bus during layovers (as is the case in most commercial vehicle operators). VIA/CN/CP do this with their trains, Greyhound and school bus operators do it with their busses, These operators also often store...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I do understand the division system, and it's archaic, inflexible, and needs to change. The TTC has already made changes to its station staffing model where part-time contract CSRs augment union CSAs. I don't see why the TTC couldn't implement something similar for drivers. As for busses being...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Who says they can't hire part time drivers? As for service and fuel, they can rotate in and out of the existing divisions, maintenance is not required because the busses were on their way out anyways.
