    Rosedale: Should it be closed?

Hell, even the medium sized chinese cities have better transit than ours

    Rosedale: Should it be closed?

I was the only one posting any RELEVANT pictures to this discussion. Random? Just look at what kind of trash the old guy adma is posting right above me. NO one could post a picture of rosedale looking half full. In fact, it looks as if it had higher ridership in the 50's...

    Eglinton-Crosstown Corridor Debate

LRT -its slower, much slower -more prone to delays from weather and such -lower capacity, thus cannot accomodate future growth as much as a subway

    Eglinton-Crosstown Corridor Debate

A full subway line on Eglinton will work, mostly because the spacing of the stations will be much further apart than that of Bloor line- making travel to the Yonge line - and consequently downtown, much faster.

    Rosedale: Should it be closed?

I don't think you know this but google also has this very convenient feature that shows how many search results are available Results 1 - 10 of about 159,000 for ttc sucks. (0.20 seconds) Results 1 - 10 of about 70,400 for london underground sucks. (0.13 seconds) considering the...

    Rosedale: Should it be closed?

I was complimenting your well composed post you bitter old man Now, I know you can be reasoned with. are you sure? Bitching about TTC is a good topic starter among strangers in this city.

    Bikes..are they pedestrians or Vehicles?

The Star did an article on this a while ago. Interestingly, it was found to be safer if cyclists do NOT stop at an all way stop

    Rosedale: Should it be closed?

I'm curious, how did you get the reference to my nick ? No, I didn't 'stare' at maps like you said. I have used 3 of the 4 longest metro systems in the world quite frequently. You clearly have lots of time but write your (I must add) well composed essay about the TD centre elsewhere...

    Rosedale: Should it be closed?

and yes, its wise to keep DC out of this- a system which manages to be three times as large as Toronto's whilst having almost 2million people than the GTA

    Rosedale: Should it be closed?

^ That picture, ladies and gentleman , is where a subway stop should go. Not some neighbourhood full of large mansions and with little to none bus connections. and btw, thanks for posting a completely irrelevant picture and failing to procure what I demanded on the previous post The way...

    Rosedale: Should it be closed?

^ say what you want after you find me a picture of rosedale station looking half full . And while you're at it, take a look at this thread http://www.urbantoronto.ca/showthread.php?t=3273

    Rosedale: Should it be closed?

no that wont work ... i can still feel the inertia from stopping ;)

    Rosedale: Should it be closed?

Hong Kong doesnt need express systems . Look at East / West rail and Tseung Kwan O Line. Their stations are spaced quite far apart and don't have unnecessary stations to speed things between. Good thing you mentioned this too. Even Hong Kong's island line doesn't have stations 600m apart and its...

    Rosedale: Should it be closed?

In countries with PROPER transit systems, stations like Rosedale are local stops only. I won't get into the concept of express trains in this thread as it would blow the minds of some people who think Toronto = world.
  15. E

    Rosedale: Should it be closed?

Ok you just cant agree even on your own posts. Just before, you were arguing the area was "medium density" - which by your logic justifies the station. Now you say density is irrelevant? Furthermore, it's starting to sound like you're employed in one of those rosedale homes as a cleaner or...

    Rosedale: Should it be closed?

thats the thing... some people here seem to see one thing but manages to COMPLETELY ignore the other.
  17. E

    Rosedale: Should it be closed?

and new guy, you're distorting the facts too YM has 3.5 times the riders compared to Rosedale. And no one will ride the buses if it doesn't connect to the station so your theory on 'ticket revenue' doesn't apply
  18. E

    Rosedale: Should it be closed?

How can you compare york mills to Rosedale. it IS one of those stations north that is held up by Rosedale so why the hell would it be closed down and let me get this clear I never said directly that I support the mothballing of Rosedale people like klattu clearly can't read my posts...
  19. E

    Rosedale: Should it be closed?

9 seconds? Do you actually think the TTC train can stop fully from 60km/h in 9 seconds even using EB? - thats not accounting for the dwell time and time lost from acceleration process. Look at the map and tell me how much percent of the area surrounding the station is medium density - yeah less...

    Rosedale: Should it be closed?

No, I'm a 416er. In fact, finch is 3 stops north of my usual station. And yeah, I already knew that NYC was built later because it makes perfect sense to build in a HIGH DENSITY neighbourhood with both office and residential buildings 20-30 stories tall ..duh you never stop do you ... yes we...
