    VIA Rail

Does this show VIA leaving Oshawa early, and four minutes early at that? I assume all ticketed passengers were recorded as boarded but it may then be unsurprising that they were ahead of slot when moving off CN and onto Metrolinx.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

If I were TTC CEO, the cost of bus hire would be fair and reasonable (I had one to transport my wedding party from Lawrence-Yonge to Sunnybrook Estates - sadly the latter is no longer open) On the other hand, foamers would dislike me intensely for many other reasons - but Halton’s not so far to...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Imagine if Toronto had a head of a transit agency who would regularly have meetings with a counterpart agency and could ask questions like “hey, when is Caledonia GO happening/why hasn’t it happened yet? Is there anything my agency could do to grease the skids?”

    Streetcar Tracks on Adelaide

Isn't this just a function of the fact that the TTC are not paying for the connection south from Queen and thus have no budget line to add this curve, even if they did want it?

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Doesn't footnote d imply that there may be more added to that 27bn number?

    VIA Rail

I don’t know if this would be burdensome for Siemens but I would like their trains to work reliably so that VIA stop having to put the Renaissance trains back to work as they have this week

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I get what you mean but it may be that they could be seasonally removed. The other thing to consider is that solar angle is much lower in winter so depending on installation inclination, if left in place it may partially shelter from snow while the insolation is still possible underneath (the...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Intercepting the CP MacTier would provide another potential interchange for GO Bolton but getting there is a decent distance through yellowbelt.

    General railway discussions

I always figured that a reinstated route would not follow a single historical route but some form of hybrid with parts of the Renfrew, Beachburg and Chalk River Subdivision alignments. The question would be how to negotiate a path through or more likely skirting areas of Arnprior, Renfrew and...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

There is a proposal in California to erect solar panels over canals, with a supposed win win of additional generation capacity while reducing water temperature and thus evaporation losses. Have wondered in the past if something similar would work for rail lines at critical spots, but the...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Isn't the development moving forward with or without Line 4 though? By the time Line 4 is approved to come west, is anyone actually changing any plans?

    General railway discussions

It's difficult to compare norms in Europe (or at least in Schengen area) to the US-Canada border. The Schengen area is premised on a sharing of border control where larger countries don't have carve out arrangements or asymmetric access to data, at least I understand it. The United States is...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

A concern I would have is that such an expansion would be linked but as much as possible not dependent - that an incident at the Line 1 yard side would not freeze Line 4 yard trains from departing into service.

Will the current high heat negatively impact the work now in progress?

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

Which is why (for me) the obvious Alstom product is the one already on North American roads - ALP-46 - rather than reworking Prima but then finding the reworked design has bugs.

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

Doubtful, given that there has been no discussion of it in the intervening years. Just found it interesting.

Presumably there was a reason reinstatement was even mentioned given as you say the alternative routing https://www.baytoday.ca/local-news/should-ontario-northland-be-the-railroader-for-the-ring-of-fire-712135

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

While ONR does not currently service the area, there was a proposal at one point in the development to reinstate the Pagwa Subdivision (the part of it ONTC didn’t buy) between Calstock and Nakina, enabling ONR only service between Nakina and Timmins Met Site...

If service is starting in 2026 is there a point in sprucing up now when weeds and graffiti will undo the work in the meantime?
