    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

It doesn't need to be a "complete" rebuild. Just raise the tracks and move the doors. As others mentioned Mlinx already has said it wants to move the services at Union, even if our lack of foresight is incredibly annoying

    Toronto Toronto | Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I don't like this proposal, but clearly digging a deep unnecessary tunnel is not "physics bending" . . . .

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

30m to Bramalea should especially be doable given the low UP frequencies rn, but given the layout of the tracks on GTS right now are there actually passing loops for trains to operate every 30? You can't quite make it to Bramalea in time otherwise, and clearly the 4th platform hasn't started at...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

The modelling that the line was based on was suspect. We don't seem to be very good with it in TO.
  5. superelevation

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Nobody suggested towing the UP Trains with locos, you'd modify the stations to be compatible with low floor coaches - bilevels are very similar length wise to the UP DMU cars
  6. superelevation

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

They run frequent electric loco pulled trains into their tight airport tunnel

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I remember Sydney's LRT because when it opened it was slower than the bus it replaced!
  8. superelevation

    Capital Line LRT

Ok, but Vancouver has all high floor metro that has a higher average speed than the Edmonton LRT, so the suggestion that high floor is disconnected from TOD is silly. The same is true in numerous other places too. Low floor trains seem nice, but they do have a niche that we don't appreciate in...

    Arc Smart Fare System

Yeah but this exists in most cities. Many to a MUCH larger extent. Indeed, the unique mix of software and hardware platforms are often where the issues lie.

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

Ah, who cares what the continent far better at rail and PT than us does!
  11. superelevation

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Or maybe capacity actually is going to be a bigger problem overall than expected
  12. superelevation

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Not tight, perhaps by the time we need emus we will also feel like adding a bunch more infill - which then won't have a huge time penalty
  13. superelevation

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Not that ridiculous - Zurich does it (underground yes)
  14. superelevation

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

    Those speed ups are huge
  15. superelevation

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

A waiver isn't even required anymore. EMUs would be great, but not sure we need them anytime soon.
  16. superelevation

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

If we need more than the 100,000 + ppdph of capacity we will have with ERTMS and massive 300m long trains we should invest in more capacity somewhere else. It's the (less extreme) equivalent of suggesting instead of building the Ontario Line we should just build more Yonge Line tracks. If this...

New GO Train Control+Signalling (PTC, CBTC, ETC) -- Safety & Subway-Like Frequency

Pretty sure Alstom was involved too . . . PTC ain't great . . . ETCS L3 actually is already implemented in everyone's favourite railway https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wuppertal_Schwebebahn Yes, but obviously ACSES has a ton of problems, especially not being as well developed as ETCS
  18. superelevation

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

We can run 24 tph on *2* tracks, we have at one point hit . . . 4 tph!
  19. superelevation

    Montréal Transit Developments

They are part of SNCF along with Keolis no?
