    Hosting a summer Olympic games

I believe that many of the newer facilities built for the 2015 Pan Am games are not Olympic-grade.

Thanks, Alex, I appreciated your column and Twitter threads on Villiers Island. We agree on some items, while diverging on others. Quick question: Does the 45% figure include the land used for the LRT lines, bike lanes or private roads? I'll admit I've found it difficult to ascertain the...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Sorry, yep, I meant Don Mills. I'm not *that* crazy.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

One more option, might be controversial: - Subway from Sheppard West to Bayview - LRT from Bayview to Sheppard & McCowan This would effectively add one new subway stop at Bathurst & Sheppard, while building a more affordable LRT extension east Bayview.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Happy to see a Consumers station proposed. I always worried they'd skip Consumers for cost-savings. There's a decently sized office park and some residential towers which make station worthwhile.

    Riverdale

Looks like some gentle density popping up behind the Danforth retail strip, on the north side between Donlands and Dewhurst.

I must admit I've been confused with the competing projects and timelines, too.

    Toronto Parks

I know. It's an absolute travesty. A modest proposal would be to retain the bins in the large sports field-style parks, but remove them from parks that demonstrate high quality design, like the Toronto Music Garden or St. James Park.

    Restaurant Comings & Goings

I visited Sammi at Danforth & Jones last weekend. It's a new Hong Kong-inspired brunch restaurant at the site of the former Motorama. Very creative menu that got rave reviews from our table of five. https://www.blogto.com/eat_drink/2024/04/sammi-hong-kong-opening-toronto/

    Mayor Olivia Chow's Toronto

Following Councillor Jaye Robinson's passing last month, there will be a by-election, likely in the fall, for the vacant Don Valley West seat. One potential candidate I've heard from my city hall source is Mark Saunders, the former Toronto police chief/2023 mayoral candidate/2022 PC candidate...

It's looking like a potential Kim Campbell-level disaster for the UK Conservatives.

My employer said they will provide full and dedicated desk space if you commit to coming in four days a week. We currently have a two day a week mandate with hot desks.

Most journalists don't write their own headlines! Anyway, I like Alex's work, and fall somewhere in the middle of Northern and Alex's views of the project. I think there can definitely be improvements, but I still think it's on track to be a successful neighbourhood.
