Architects! Who hurt you? Why do you hate pedestrians so much? This building is stunning. And then, you look at the retail. Another endless glass wall. Coming off another glass wall next door. Glass never looks this transparent in real life. It would have hurt no one to bring down the brick...

Agreed, the big miss of this entire project is a cherry street station, especially as the 504 gets extended into the portlands, it would really be a great connection point to commuters heading west from the port lands.

    Toronto Toronto | West Don Lands: Block 13 | 139.31m | 43s | Dream | Henriquez Partners

My biggest gripe is that the retail area is once again planned to be an endless glass wall, coming off the endless glass wall next door. It would not be a crime for architects to bring down some of the brick and pattern styles to the street level where most pedestrians actually experience...

Wow! This is so good. Would easily be the best architecture in Front Street and bring some much needed texture/colour into the neighbourhood. Especially with Canary Commons next door (all blue glass).

I’ve got to ask… what’s with these ugly dotted windows? Is there some new regulation that insists windows must look like this?

    Toronto Toronto | Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

I am going to have to agree with Alex on this. We are spending quite a bit of money rehabilitating this space to make it open to development, and the context of the city at this time is a housing crisis. This area is a blank slate, with no NIMBYs, will be close to the East Harbour employment...

There has been advocacy from orgs like the Toronto Regional Board Of Trade to create GO RER stations at Cherry (or here, Don Yard) and Spadina station. I’d say it’s highly likely to be built at some point, given the obvious connection to the port lands via cherry street (where the 504A would...

I love these especially looking from front but wow do I ever wish that brick was RED.

I personally feel like preserving the soap factory is a dumb hill to die on, especially when the other critiques are so valid. There is not enough variation in building height, so there are no layers to the new skyline it’s creating. All the renderings are of blue glass buildings - me need more...

This isn’t public housing, this is private rental housing, of which, something like 20% are affordable (80% of market rate) and the rest are market rental.

More Brick going up. Was hoping it would be more red but maybe they’re just fresh/shiny.

    Toronto Toronto | Downtown Data Centre | 38.5m | 4s | Equinix Inc | WZMH

I think ultimately that there are better places to put the data center. This area of the city is growing and it doesn’t make sense to have an building not meant for people or retail along front street, especially considering how close to a subway stop it is. the city and province should really...

    Toronto Toronto | 1 Sumach | 120m | 35s | Block | gh3

Between this site and the Foundry nearly across the street, Eastern avenue is about to get a lot more density. Currently this area is really awful from a pedestrian perspective. Also, the giant Green’s Storage facility across the street must have its days numbered? That would really contribute...

    Toronto Toronto | West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

Glad to see that they're retaining and refinishing a lot of the existing buildings on site. I'm also happy to see with POPS with opportunities for restaurants etc. to surround it. I guess the Music space/venues have been discarded from the proposal? I think the amount of Black in the towers...

I would love to see renderings for EH like First Capital did for 2150 Lake Shore W.

    Toronto Toronto | Cherry House at Canary Landing | 50.32m | 13s | Dream | COBE Architects

This project seems like it's moving super quickly! Every time I walk by I'm shocked at the progress. Despite appearing to start earlier, it seems to be moving faster than the indigenous hub next door.

    Toronto Toronto | Cherry House at Canary Landing | 50.32m | 13s | Dream | COBE Architects

It's a shame that Acura and Volvo Dealership (And the Jeep dealership next door) continue to take up space around this development.

    Toronto Toronto | East Harbour | 214.2m | 65s | Cadillac Fairview | Adamson

It’s like the city doesn’t conceptualize that we’re in a housing crisis right now. We also know mixed use development creates much more vibrancy than just commercial development. Fortunately it’s likely the province will provide CF a MZO

I don’t think either way. I wasn’t accusing the city of anything, just saying as a resident of the WDL, it would be nice. Use up more of the boulevard and add vibrancy. And maybe encourage some new restaurants to make the neighborhood home. Perhaps applications have been made - or not!
