You’re forgetting that travel times will be significantly faster when electrification happens, both for electric and diesel hauled trains. The travel times are so good that you can probably add 9 additional stations on the Lakeshore West and still have better travel times than today

The Market is quickly becoming my favourite part of this station, I can’t wait for phase 2 to happen: Speaking of the market, I believe this is for a place called Freshly Squeezed? Someone can correct me if I’m wrong:

GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

The roundhouse museum is right there (obviously not all of it should go there but a small portion could). Besides that if they couldn’t find anywhere to put the rest of it, then it should just be scrapped… it isn’t that worthy of full preservation

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Pretty sure they shifted the Lakeshore and Stouffville tracks south…. Not the Richmond tracks north

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

I can’t remember if I posted these… but I also made some other diagrams over the past 6 months or so:

I assume so, the currently operating cabs are getting the new door that allows the cab to be placed in the middle of the train, so I assume the rebuilt cabs will too

Only the right side (side of the train with the engine in that diagram) will operate, they'll leave the disconnected cars behind

No they aren’t making 2 trains out of it, they’re disconnecting 7-10/12 and leaving them behind, only operating the 6 car train that’s left. Over the weekends Georgetown Yard has two sets of 4 cars remaining from two 10 car trains that operate on weekdays, while the two Kitchener consists that...

Here’s a diagram I made on GO’s new consist splitting procedure or whatever you call it:

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I’m not sure if anyone’s talked about it yet, but GO has recently experimented with splitting consists from 12/10 car trains on weekdays to 6 car trains on weekends, they modified the older flat cab cars to be able to run in the middle of the trains:

Great to hear! GO’s been piloting signage like that at Mimico and Danforth for a few years now… the former Metrolinx spokesperson said a wider rollout was supposed to come in early 2023 but that never happened. I guess it’s pairing with the new ranged car markers pilot for GO crews that was...

When you say that do you mean these signs? (The green sign at the bottom not the blue sign at the top)

Are you able to discuss a few of these? I’m aware of one (which I think is a really good idea that should be implemented), and this local-express service that someone posted on Twitter

While two service branches on the UP Express lines up with what’s planned in the far future, I’d still be wary of trusting a Twitter post; I think we should wait for an official announcement to see what the full plan is before jumping to any conclusions.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I feel like they didn’t necessarily drop the ball, they just never picked up the ball that's been on the floor since 2015; the UP screens have always looked awful, the one Metrolinx showed is just a dark mode redesign:

There was a proposal all the way back in 1972 that suggested service on that CN line:

Is this the first time a uninclosed bridge has been installed at a GO station?

As promised here’s an updated 2024 photo from almost the same angle, note the missing ceiling panels and even more off lights
